Bella's room

[river]

River went into one of the free guest rooms. They were the most decorative rooms on the ship but it wasn't much different then what the rest of the ship looked like. When guests were in the room they were allowed to decorate as they chose. She sighed remembering when she lived in the guest rooms. She was crazy at the time but there wasn't much she could have done about that.

She smiled when Bella got close to the room. This was a person who would make this feel like home for herself while she was in the room.

[Arabella Hart]

Bella followed River into the room. It was a good sized guest room, just big enough for her. She sent her bags down just outside the doorway. Brushing her long skirt off, she sat on the bed and nodded. "It's nice. I may just tkae this over permantly." Bella chuckled at her own joke, going where the wind would take her.

"Where does everyone else sleep?" Bella was curious. The ship seemed small on the outside, but inside she'd already been proven wrong in that fact.

"We sleep in the bunks, these rooms are set up to be nicer than the others rather than just plain like the crew bunks" said River "The bunks are along the walls of the ship headed back toward the engine room and the cargo hold."

River smiled at Bella this girl was going to fit right in. It usually took a lot to get River to smile, she had so much on her mind all the time. River knew how the ship looked from the outside people even called her a piece of junk. River loved it though everyone one did or learned to eventually.

[Arabella Hart]

"I'm used to sleeping on floors every now and then so this is a step-up."Opening her smaller bag, Bellla pulled out a photo frame which had spots for several photos. There were only a three photos in there, and the last four spots had pictures of roses and hearts in them to fill space for now. One picture was of Bella, her parents, and young brother Timothy right before he died. Bella always felt guilty about his death-believing it was her fault. The memories hurt, but the pain was dull.

Another photo was of her grandmother. It was very stiff and formal, but you could tell that her grandmother loved her. It was rare for anyone to capture a picture of her and this was oen of those moments. THe last photo was of Bella with BEtty adn two other chefs. Bella missed them dearly as well. She couldn't send a wave to them though except at specific days each month because her grandmother may find her location. This her because Betty was always like another mother to her.

Running her thumb along the edge of teh frame, Bella set it down on the dresser by the bed. Bella lokoed back up at River and noticed that River had smiled for the first time. Bella felt comfertable with River, like an old friend. Bella didn't have many friends she had kept over the years. Many she'd left behind, and the rest never talked to her anymore. Her birthday was only a couple weeks ago and Bella had celebrated alone. She'd almost forgotten about it herself until someone mentioned the date. "You really love this ship huh?"

[Haven Tam]

Haven stopped jsut outside Bella's door, listening to River and Bella talk. Bella had a soft voice-kind and kind of shy, like her brother. She could tell there was some hurt as she talked about certain things and looked at the photos; hurt no person should ever feel.

In their lives, Serenity had encountered a lot of people. Some were running from their past, some were running towards a future, but some were running both ways. Bella seemed to be one of those girls. Maybe Haven and Daniel and River and the rest of the crew could help her run to the right place; maybe the right place for her was here.

Stepping into the room, Haven let herself be known. She didn't say anything at first though. When no one was talking she waved to both of them and jsut went, "Hi!" trying to get her brother in the room.

Daniel stood outside next to Haven. He looked in and saw the look of sadness over Bella's face. Daniel just felt the urge to ask her if she was feeling alright. "Hi...er...y-you settling in OK?" Daniel panicked at the last moment. He wanted to comfort her but he felt awkward doing so in front of his aunt and sister, especially seen as they have barely said 5 words to one another.

River smiled and then looked back to Bella.

"Bella you are in good hands I shall leave you now" said River "Haven come along"

River heads toward the door and puts a hand on Haven's shoulder to get her to go with.

Haven pouted. "But, but I wanted to talk too!" Haven knew it was no use trying ot argue. WHen River had her mind set, she ahd her mind set about something. Britening up a moment, Haven waved to Bella. "Me and you can talk after dinner and do the dishes."

Poking her brother, Haven whispered to Daniel, "Don't be nervous. Just be yourself, she'll love you then." After that Haven hurried off to hang out with her aunt.

Bella had stood up, dumping the contents of her small bag out. She had a small wooden box with memorables from her travels, several books she hadn't gotten to read yet, her journal and her drawing pad with the box of pens and pencils.

Looking up, she saw Haven and Daniel had joined them. Picking up her books and journal, she opened the bottom drawer of the dresser and put them in it. "Um, ok?"

Bella went back to the bed and picked up the box with her memorables to set it ontop of her dresser. Haven and River had both left and she was alone with Daniel. Her normal fears came over her, but the shakes weren't that bad. This confused her as they were usually noticebale and bad.

Sitting on her bed, Bella put her bag on the floor and pushed her drawing pad to the side for later. Not knowing what to say she just asked, "So, um, how long have you been on the ship?"

'OK, just be yourself. What's the worst that could happen?' Upon thinking those words, Daniel started to think about all the different ways it go wrong. He never realised that being alone with her would actually turn out to be more nerve racking than being watched by everyone else. Daniel just stood in the doorway afraid to go in. He decided to keep his sentences short and to speak slower than usually so as not to mess up any words, "I was born here. Lived on this ship my whole life. 19 years this ship has been home. Everyone on board is like family to me. Stay long enough and you'll feel like family too." 'So far so good' he thought. "So, um, where do you come from? Originally, I mean."

[Arabella Hart]

Bella could tell Daniel was nervous, but didn’t know why. “Kicking her sandals off, she pulled one leg up under her.

“Oh.” Bella was disappointed about the family part. ‘Wait, what? Why am I disappointed?’ Clearing the thought from my head, Bella shifted her eyes away for a moment.

The past was hard at times for Bella, so she didn’t give out too much information. ‘I was born here on Ezra. When I was little I moved to my grandmother’s on Londinum after my brother died.” Looking back up upon his face, she smiled a rather bright smile at Daniel, something rare when she was alone with a man.

Daniel felt some what saddened at the mention of Bella's brother. "Oh...I'm sorry to hear that." Although they constantly picked on each other and they had their little arguments, Daniel couldn't bare the thought of loosing his sister.

When Bella smiled at him, his heart began to race at a hundred miles an hour. At first he looked away from her embarrassed, but after, without even thinking, he started to smile back at her. He almost didn't realize what he was doing, he just acted on impulse. He took a small step into the room and asked "So...um...er...w-what do think of our little ship?"

Bella shrugged one shoulder at the mention of being sorry. "I learned to live with the happy memories-not the bad one." Something about Daniel made her nervous. Not just her normal not trusting guys thing, but in another way she couldn't place her finger on.

On impulse she winced when he came in the room. She saw a look on his face and apologized. "It's, um nothing against you, but I-I was r-r-raped not too long ago. Please, don't mind if I have a sudden movement." Bella didn't know what made her tell him this, but she felt that she needed to tell him this bit of information. Like she didn't want to scare him off.

Trying to relax, her smile returned. "I like it. It's a lot better then the other ships I've been on in the past. Cleaner, neater." Biting her lip a moment, she wanted to know more about Daniel. "What do you do on the ship?"

Daniel saw how nervous he was making Bella which made it seem that little bit easier for she seemed just as scared of him as he was of her. "I'm a mechanic. Haven wanted to be a doctor after our father, so i decided to be a mechanic after our mother. It's hard work most of the time, but i enjoy it."

When Bella told him she had been raped, he just stood there in shock. "Um....w-w....I...er..." Daniel was lost for words, he almost didn't know what to say. "Th-that must of...um...been very er...difficult to say to me." Part of Daniel wanted to leave but another part of him felt that Bella wanted him to stay. "Listen, if i'm making you uncomfortable then i could...like...leave you alone for now?"

Bella felt guilty for telling Daniel. "You surprise me by wanting to be a mechanic. I mean, by the stature about you." He did have that air of a gentleman about him, like he should have been the doctor. Standing, Bella, walked around barefoot for a moment as she put her hair stuff, soaps, and other shower stuff away in teh bottom drawer as well.

Bella slipped her sandels on and leaned against the wall by Daniel. "It-it was hard, but it has-nothing to do with you." Haven looked down and let a weak smile creep on her face. "I-I like talking to you, I just wanted to t-tell you in case I flinch or something."

Bella felt like she could talk to him all day, and though she never normally tell anyone much about her past, she wanted to tell Daniel more. It was just something about him. "Do you like being a mechanic?"
