Bella's room

[Arabella Hart]

Bella stiffened up at first as he ran his hand up and down her arm, remembering that night, but it was soothing. She began to relax again and feel safe. Her smile widened. "Yeah, maybe..." Bella would do everything in her powers to stay here. Even if it meant going back on to Londium for the gourmet food Betty would provide if asked, she would stay as long as she could. She desperately wanted to see if there could be something more here.

Daniel was about to stop when he felt Bella stiffen up, but carried on after he felt her relax. He was glad Bella enjoyed it. Although he start to feel more comfortable and more open, it was still the most nerve-racking moment he had ever experienced. And even though Bella seemed equally comfortable around him, he was still afraid of doing something to ruin it. "I-If your not comfortable with me doing somethin', just say so and i'll stop."

Bella nodded. "I will. It's-it's just my old habits I guess you could call them acting up." Grabbing his free hand, she ran her thumb along it. "But with you, my nerves settle." He was so caring towards her and she respected that. Bella knew her own boundaries and would make sure not to overstep them. "But the same goes here-towards you."

"Yeah, I know what you mean." It felt good having her run her thumb on his hand. Daniel had dreamed of tender moments like this. Being with someone he can be truely open and honest with, someone who will care for him as much as he cares for her, someone who will make him feel as though they are the only two people in the verse. "When we first met I could barely get a sentence out. Now I feel as though I could tell you anythin'."

Bella liked to listen to his voice. It was slightly deep, but rather soothing at the same time. She smiled, thinking back to the cargo bay. “Ah, that’s why. I thought that was just because you had a bad stutter.” She was just being playful, but it felt like it was ok to act like that with him. “Yeah, normally I never tell anyone anything about my past. I think I’ve told you more in the past twenty minutes then in my entire time since traveling the verse.” Normally Bella just told people her name, where she was from, and what she could do as far as cooking. After that, no one wanted to know anything else.

Daniel laughed slightly, "Its a shame really, it would be a whole lot easier if i did just have a stutter. Not having a lot of confidence in this sort of thing tends get in the way a bit." For once Daniel didn't mind his awkwardness being a scource of humor. He knew she was just being playful, and he just liked the sound of her voice. "I'm glad you told me. It was then I knew I could share anythin' with you."

"I was just thinkin', what do you want to tell everyone else?" Daniel knew they had to talk about this at some point. "I'm sure aunt River already knows how we feel," Daniel sighed, "and I bet Haven knows already."

Bella laughed at his analogy. This was all so fast, but she didn’t mind it so much. She felt that fast was ok, but not too fast. “Well, wh-what so you want from here?” Bella didn’t want the rest of the crew to think she was coming on here to take advantage of everyone. “If you want to wait to try something between us, then we wait to say something.” Running her fingertips along the palm of his hand, she linked their fingers. “But if we want to try a relationship, then we decide who to tell first.”

Biting her lip, she turned so she look at him, but still be in Daniel’s arms. Laying her head in his lap, she stared into his eyes, waiting to see what he wanted. Because if he wanted to, Bella would love to try a relationship with him. They may have just met, but there was definitely something there that she could feel.

Daniel took a moment to really think about this. On the one hand, they had only just met each other so the sensible thing to do would be to take their time. But, on the other hand, the connection he felt with Bella was so perfect that he would be a fool not to pursue the relationship. After a few moments, he looked down to Bella and just gazed into her deep blue eyes. He took one look at her smile and he knew what he wanted. "I-I've got no problem with waiting if you want to, but, I-I think we should go for it. We've only just met but already we get on so well and I think you feel the same."

Bella smiled and kissed the palm of his hand. He wanted to go for it. And so did she. Her heart fluttered. “So, if we give this a shot, maybe we should wait and see what the captain thinks of me.” Laughing lightly, she shook her head. “We don’t want him throwing me off before I even get a chance on here.”

Bella closed her eyes a moment. Back on Londium, she’d only dated someone once. Her grandmother had set them up in hopes of them being married. Bella ran, because she didn’t love him, or even remotely like him. But as she opened her eyes back up, she saw the face of someone she did like; even if this wasn’t love, there was something there.

Daniel took her hand and kissed it back, then he laughed at Bella's comment. "I wouldn't worry too much about him. From what I've been told he's thought about hiring a cook since he bought Serenity near 30 years ago. And i'm sure your cooking will be enough to please even him."

Daniel was happy, excited, nervous, scared all at once. He had never had a girlfriend before, he had always been too nervous to ask them out. His confidence got a little better as he got older but no-one ever stayed on board long enough for it to go any where. If Mal wouldn't let her stay, then Daniel was prepared to do anything to persuade him other wise.

“If he has been looking for that long, why hasn’t he found one yet?” She laughed at the thought of looking that long and just finding one. This captain was already turning out to be an interesting one. Serenity would be a nice place to find herself. Yes, it definitely would.

When he kissed her hand, she could still feel it linger when he had stopped. These feelings were completely new because she had never liked another so much. Playing with the cuffs of his jacket, she was thinking of something to talk about with him. “What do you do for fun when you’re up and flying?”

"Mal doesn't actually look to employ people. They tend to find him." All this talk about Mal is making Daniel realize just how complicated he actually is. Daniel started to wonder why Mal wasn't back yet. It was probably nothing, Mal knew how to take care of himself.

"When I'm not workin, I like to work out, maybe even read book or watch a vid from the cortex. I also like to take old parts and try to repair them or rig them into somethin' new." After spending so much time in space, Daniel knew how to keep himself occupied. "So, what do you like? Maybe we can find somethin' to do together." Whatever Bella said, he would probably end up doing it, just to spend time with her.

It was at this moment that Simon walked past the door with Dave to show him tot he other guest room. on his way back, he glanced in at the two, but thought better of it before he said anything and continued on his way.

Bella understood what he was saying about Mal hiring people. After all, River and Bella were the ones who had met. And River was the one who’d hired Bella, but she still wanted to eventually met Mal. “Um, for a heads up, what will your parents and sister be like when we tell them?”

Looking at her third drawer and the her sketch book on her bed she nodded. “I like to sketch. No masterpiece, just often little designs I see and like. I also enjoy to read, but I only have some of my favorite books. Many re-makes of books form Earth-That-Was. I had a small library of books between me and my grandmother we’d collected, but I was the only one who read. I couldn’t take most of them with me.”

Playing with a piece of string on her skirt, she wrinkled her nose a bit. I like to write poetry and enjoy a good card game.” Looking away, she blushed a little at her next favorite activity. “I also enjoy to dance, but I haven’t since I left my grandmother’s-unless I’m alone cooking.” Since she lived at her grandmother’s, Bella had had dance lessons and she liked to add some flare when dancing alone. “I am a horrible person when it comes to fixing things. Maybe-maybe you could show me?” Looking up, she smiled more. No one ever wanted to do anything with her so this would be interesting.

"Well, my parents were no older than we are when they got together, although they did know each other for about 8 months or so before they went out. They might be ok with it." The thought of what his sister might think went through Daniel's head and he laughed at it. "And my sister...has probably thought about this since we first met."

Daniel grinned at the things Bella enjoys, "With that said, your gonna get on with just about everyone." He saw how much Bella blushed when she mentioned dancing and an idea popped into his head. He took hold off both of her hands and held them together, "I'm...not much of a dancer. How about this? I'll show you how I fix things and you can...show me how to...dance." As much as he liked the idea, he felt embarrased asking her to teach him to dance.
