Mal could tell Inara wasn’t moving. But he had a plan. “Well, if you like her well then we should.” He was kind of grinding his teeth at that. But he softened again. From the sounds of it, she’s already had one hard thing. “I have a feeling that most everyone is curious about her. So the crew can come and listen while I talk to her.”

He looked back over at Jay, positioning his arms under Inara’s legs and back. “Put it on cruise control. Just set it for someplace to get fuel cheap.” In one swift motion, he lifted Inara up in his arms to head to the kitchen. “Ready to go talk to her?” He smiled wickedly as he moved her out with him, careful not to knock her head.

Simon

Simon walked up to the bridge, but stopped to let Mal come through the hatch with Inara in his arms. A puzzled look on his face, he shook his head and stepped inside.
"Nice take-off Jay." He said before turning to Daniel and saying "Those modifications you have been making really seem to smoothen this old ship out, Nice work." before leaning against one of the bulkheads and watching through the Window, arms folded.

Daniel gave a slight smile back to Jay. It was a sad thing, never having known your father. He could only imagine how that must feel. Daniel got up and followed Mal to the kitchen. He already knew what had happened to Bella but he wanted to be there to give her some support. Daniel turned to his father on his way out, "Thanks dad. I'm learning from the best after all."

Inara gave a cry of surprise as Mal picked her up, but it dissolved into laughter as she clutched harder around his neck to keep from falling.

"Hello Simon!" She called back over Mal's shoulder as they passed him, a smile on her face. She had the feeling this was the beginning of something she'd been waiting for for a long time now.

Jay set it for cruise control and locked in some coordinates for a fueling station. Standing up from his seat he took one last look around the bridge and mumbled something about never knowing how much he was like his father. All because the man had died and left him basically alone. He really needed to find out more about his dad from someone. Maybe he'd go and search the ship for someone like family to talk to about what he was feeling.

Sighing quietly he moves his way out the door with ever intent to go to the kitchen and see how Mal, Inara, and everyone else was progressing there.
