The New Arrivals

[Arabella Hart]

Bella let out a nervous laugh. “Sorry, I’m always on alert since...well, you know River.” Turning to Simon, she said, “Nothing against you; it’s just events that took place.” Bella wasn’t one for indulging too much information too fast and she didn’t want everyone to feel sorry for her.

Taking a step forward, she spun about, looking around and up. Stopping, her eyes fell on a young man, but she turned away, not wanting to get herself ahead of the game. She wasn’t quite ready to flirt, so she just held back more, smiling as he came over to them.

Looking at Haven again, she asked how old she was.

Haven turned her head back and saw her brother. A smile spreading, she could tell that he had a thing for Bella. Letting out a silent., “yes” she turned back to her father and Vincent. “Yeah Vincent, my father doesn’t like taking me out in public anymore because I’m all grown up.” She smiled, loving how she poked fun at her father.

Smiling, Haven offered that she was nineteen. “My slowpoke brother up there, Daniel, is my twin.” Turning back, she motioned for him. “Danny, come down here!” She knew he didn’t like it when she called him Danny and felt like embarrassing him some more.

[OOC: Please remember the rule about three people posting before you post in a thread with more then four characters in it. For the first few times I will let it slide cause we are all jsut getting started. But after this thread I expect you all to know it down pact. ]

(...oh...my...gods...It's been an entire page since I last posted...)

Inara was a little overwhelmed by the sudden arrival of all the new people, she greeted each in turn with a bright smile and warm welcome, as was the Companion way.

She wasn't so sure about Dave, but Arabella she could tell would fit right in with their rag tag family.

"I do wonder where Mal is, he's been gone an awful long time..." she said softly, mostly to herself. It wasn't a secret that Mal and Inara shared feelings for each other, they just tried not to show it much.

Hearing Haven call her brother by his hated nickname, Inara reached over and gently pinched the girl's arm "Haven...play nice," she warned softly, arching a brow in her direction.

Vincent looked over at Daniel and saw how nervous he was. He glanced at Haven and saw that familiar look in her eyes. He laughed to himself and gathered the rest of his things. He walked over to Haven and whispered "Don't push him too hard now," he smiled to her and walked over to her brother. "Hey Daniel," Vincent patted him on the shoulder and whispered "You're enemies may be closer than you think." He headed off to his old room.

River was once again silently watching. She did alot of lurking around after she first got on to Serenity. River gave Bella a silent reassuring nod. She wasn't going to say anything unless it was an absolute necessity. River heard Inara's comment it put words to what she was thinking.

"He'll be fine" said River "Job is just getting held up"

Haven smiled and pretended to be dumb to Vicnent. "Why whatever do you mean?" Bumping his shoulder, she moved next to Bella to talk with her. The girl looked about her age and it was rare to have someone her own age, besides her brother and cousin, to talk to; especially a girl.

"So Bella, you been traveling the verse very long?" She wanted her brother to try and engage the girl in conversation, though she felt Bella may be resistant. But she wanted her brother to talk to people more.

Dave let out a nervous chuckle,
"Hey folks."
He said to the new arrivals in the cargo bay, before turning to River
"Is your captain always gone for this long?"
he asked, a feeling of concern for the man shot down his neck, Ezra might no longer be ruled by Niska, his parents told him of the mans demise before he was born, but that doesnt stop it from being dangerous.

When Daniel heard his sister shout 'Danny' across the cargo bay, he began to feel more inadequate than ever. He didn't mind it when he was younger, but now he's grown up, it makes him feel much like a child again. Upon hearing Vincent's words, Daniel had a confused look on his face. Daniel was too distracted to figure out what he ment.

When he finally made it to his sister and the young woman, he tried to force a smile on his face. "H...hi. I'm er...Daniel......Daniel Tam. I'm....Haven's.....brother."

Bella set her last bag down as that began to feel like a burden. She hoped she could set everything aside someplace before she cooked something for the crew. As she stood up, she answered Haven. “Well, I’ve been out and about for two years now, since I was seventeen.” Smiling she decided to let a small bit of information out. “I was sick of my grandmother’s strict ways so I decided to skedaddle.” Bella turned her head to the side and decided to ask Haven a question. “Do you like living on the ship?

Turning her head to Daniel, she nodded to him. “Arabella, but everyone calls me Bella.”

River watched her niece and nephew and then turned to Dave.

"Mal he'll be fine, he destroyed Niska, found a planet no one was supposed to know about, had his ear cut of, fought in a war that he lost and he's still flying" said River "That's enough for him if there's trouble we'll know soon enough"

River left out a lot about the operative and the fact that she had almost shot Mal. She looked around once more and knew that this was her home, good memories finally made their way into her head from the ship. Things about Wash and Shepherd Book.

"Haven, Daniel, let Bella get settled into the ship before you bombard her with questions" said River "Bella I'll take you to the kitchen"

Jayne walks into the cargo bay. He waves at all the newcomers. "Nice to meet all of you. The name is Jayne. I'm the man who gets all the covert operations done around here."

[Haven Tam]

“I love living on Serenity. It’s a lot better then living on land I think cause you get to meet people from all over the verse.” Haven pouted to her aunt. “But River I want to talk to her some more!” Haven loved new people and was bursting with energy. “Can we show her to a room first? Please!” They all knew Mal would love to cook. The only good cooks were usually working and the rest of the crew hated to cook.

Poking Jayne, she saw some fear in Bella’s eyes at the guys in the room. Haven didn’t know why so she tilted her head to the side in thought some. “Jayne only looks scary. He’s got a good heart deep down.”

Daniel let out a sigh of relief when his aunt asked him and his sister to give Bella some space. This would give Daniel some time to compose himself and it would allow him to wait for a time when virtually the whole ship wouldn't be there with them. Not that being alone with a girl helped much but at least then he wouldn't he the feeling of everyone watching and judging him.

"P-pleasure to meet you...Bella. Sis, I'm sure......Bella would rather like to get settled in first." As he spoke he thought to himself 'please, for the love of god, get settled in first.'

Bella felt like her head was being crammed with information in one second. Feeling like she would explode, she felt relieved when River said she was to show her the kitchen she was relieved. Letting out some frustration in a long sigh, she felt her shakes come back on, not willingly this time. “I hope I get the same experience you have Haven.” Forcing a small smile, she wondered if Daniel always seemed nervous or had a slight stutter.

Bella had never really had a home since she left her parents in Ezra. Her grandmother’s house was more like a prison unless she could escape to the kitchen with Bettie. Bella had been torn between the Browncoats and Alliance since then. She loved the values of the Browncoats, but she was brought up mostly under Alliance household. She never supported them, especially when Bettie showed her the video from Miranda. Since, Bella has been torn between the right and wrong in her heart. And she hoped maybe finding her own home would allow her to find what her heart was tearing in two for.

River noticed Bella's reaction to what was going on. Serenity was alot to take in but she loved it it was home for her. River knew Bella's head felt like exploding and that her heart was torn in two. Simon's was to for awhile but he found his place there and that was that.

"Bella don't worry about Jayne he's always like that" said River "Come along lets head to the kitchen"
