The New Arrivals

Vincent rode in with the engine of his bike echoing through-out the cargo bay. As he got off, he looked round the cargo bay and began to reminisce about all the fun times he had on Serenity in the past. Serenity was one of the very few places where he found happiness and solitude.

After he finished he went back to his bike and began to unload his gear.

As Inara moved down the stairs, the familiar sound of Vincent's Motorbike met her ears and she smiled, hurrying her steps.

"Vincent!" Inara exclaimed, picking up her skirts to step into the Cargo Bay, she moved to hug her old friend in greeting and kiss him on the cheek. Though it had been sometime since Vincent had seen Inara, she didn't look a day older than a perfect and beautiful 30, just as he had first met her.

There was a knocking sound from the cargo bay hatch, and as it swung open, Dave poked his head through.
"I hope i aint intruding on nothing."
he said with a glance towards Vincent and the startling woman.
"River said i should make my way to the ship to speak with Mal, mind if come in?"

"Hey Inara," sounding a little surprised. "No matter how many times I see you, it still shocks me to see you looking so young." They hugged and kissed each other on the cheek. Vincent turned round when Dave came in. "Oh no, please come in. Er...Dave this is Inara. Inara this is Dave, a man me and River bumped into in town."

River enters the cargo bay quietly as usual. No one even noticed her enter for they were busy talking. She watched the scene, looking at Dave, Inara, and Vincent.

"Welcome to Serenity, Dave" said River

She knew that most of the people were going to jump a little bit at her entrance. She stayed in her spot so she wouldn't startle the new ones more.

[Arabella Hart]

Bella walked onto Serenity and let her eyes dance around. It had much more room then the previous ships she had been on and she smiled. It reminded her of when she was younger and used to run about her grandmother’s house, trying to hide from all her tutors.

Stepping forward, she saw an elegant companion and extended her hand. “I’m Arabella, Bella for short.” River was correct. Serenity was already impressing her and she had only just arrived.

[Dave Cassidy]

"nice to meet ya, Inara."
Dave said with a small smile, before turning to River,
"Thanks, River, looks just like the boat my folks used to fly, but... more... 'loved'?"
He said, unsure if the last word was correct, he could feel the emotions on and for this ship, realising that it had been home for more than one person all their life.

[Simon Tam]

Simon came walking in from the Gaalley,and looked over to the congregation, before shouting to River
"No sign of Mal yet?"
And he walked down the gangway to greet the new arrivals.
"Hello, im Simon Tam, Rivers older brother and Serenity's Doctor."
As he reached the new people he held out his hand to shake theirs.

[Haven Tam]

Walking down the galley Haven say two new faces and an old friend. "Vincent!" RUnning down the stairs, she ran and gave him a giant hug. "How are you friend?" It was a rare event to see Vincent in town. Pulling back from him, she stood next to her father.

"My name is Haven. I'm his apprentice and daughter." Haven extended her hand out to each of the new arrivals. She saw the young man seemed rather tough and the girl was rather nervous of being here. She offered a kind smile to both of them. Haven already had a devious plan in her head about getting Daniel to get know this young lady cause he never gets out much.

[Arabella Hart]

Bella shook both Simon and Haven's hands, reluctant with the doctor's at first. The similarities of how they look were remarkable. "I'm Arabella, Bella for short." Pulling back, she dropped her duffel back on the floor for now. It had all of her clothes and then some more belongings and was rather heavy.

Silently holding back, she let everyone talk amongst themselves instead of butting in.

River looked at her brother with that classic little sister look. She still thought his hair was ridiculous some days.

"No no Mal yet" said River

She turned to Dave hearing his comment and his thoughts all at once.

"Love is the word for it" said River to Dave

She looked at Bella and the others in the room. She smiled at her niece and her brother.

"Bella don't be worried Simon couldn't hurt a fly" said River "He could try but it wouldn't work very well"

River knew that Haven was plotting of course both of Simon's children liked to plot things against each other so River just let it go. River was trying to get a smile out of Bella and get her engaged in conversation. These people were her family and Bella had nothing to worry about. Simon, Daniel, and Haven were blood related to her and Kaylee because she was married to Simon. But everyone else just took on the role as River's family.

"Haven," Vincent caught her as she ran into him. "Oh, I've had my better days. But, look at you. You've grown into a lovely young woman."

Vincent looked over to Simon, "Ah, Doctor. I see your as happy as ever to see me back." Vincent always made fun of Simon whenever he could, much to his disapproval and the amusement of the others.

[Simon Tam]

"Hmm, good to see you, Vincent."
Simon was always unsure about why Vincent enjoyed bugging him, it might have been because he was so quiet, or there might have been another reason, but he did not know for sure.
A nervous smile crept across his face at what River said, despite that he realised that it was true, and he rested his hand on his daughter's shoulder.

River gave her brother a classic little sister smirk that he would know quite well. She used it everytime she was being a brat to him. River looked back at Bella.

"Welcome to Serenity Bella" said River

She smiled at Bella to let her know she was safe. River knew Simon was annoyed and she enjoyed it.

Daniel looked out over the catwalk to catch a glimpse of any new visitors. He saw Vincent by his bike, the strange man talking to Inara and the young woman hanging back from everyone else. Daniel took one look at her and his heart began to race. He always had trouble talking to girls he found attractive. As he slowly made his way down the stairs, he thought the words 'don't panic' over and over.
