The Searchers

Vincent stepped out onto the planet's surface. Vincent had to put on a pair of shades to shield his eyes from the glare of the sun. It was too bright for him to be able to see clearly and he needed his vision to be as sharp as possible if he is going to find Mal. He looked round to see if anyone was watching the ship while he waited for everyone else to come out.

Dave stepped onto the surface of Ezra, and immediately rised his rifle to his eyes, searching the windows of the nearby warehouses for people watching, then, he checked the roofs of the warehouses, satisfied that no-one was watchng them or the ship, he lowered his rifle and got up of the one knee had had dropped to, before saying "where all clear, no-ones watching us from the warehouses."

Daniel stepped outside and watched as Vincent and Dave looked around. He found Dave's approach to looking around a little amusing when compared to Vincent who just stood there waiting. He had a quick look himself, not that he was expecting to see anything that hadn't already been noticed, he just wanted to help in every way possible. After hearing Dave give the all clear, and convinced Vincent will do the same, he turned round to everyone else, "All clear everyone. Right Vincent?" He wanted Vincent to confirm it. Daniel was less than trusting of Dave after his kid remarks.

[Haven Tam]

Haven walked out onto the planet. It was fairly bright, but not broiling like she thought it would be. Looking around, she saw some feds way off at a store, but they weren't paying attetnion. Nodding, she pointed. "Two over there, but that's it. THey are disctracted."

Shaking her head at Dave, she moved next to him. Throughly irritated, she snapped at him. "Don't go brandishing your weapon like that. You can caryr it, but don't do much else. If no one was watching before, they could start now." Haven knew enough to know not to wave your status around like that. The last thing they needed was feds crawling aorund here.

Jayne had been listening to the make shift band of a search crew. Shaking his head, he looked at the feds Haven mentioned. "They are hte only two we've seen all day." Looking at his watch, he spit out onto the ground. "They should be rotating in two hours time. We should be gone by then."

He was jsut as irritated as Haven. Even he wasn't too stupid to wave a gun in front of a fed-unless he fel tlike pissing them off that day. but no, not today. He wanted to complications in catching this guy.

Dave rolled his eyes, unsure of exactly how to reply to the siblings reaction to his search, before simply slinging his rifle over his back, making a point to show them that there wasnt even a mag loaded. Dave stalked off through the crates and shipping containers to try and find somehing, anything that could lead to the captain, but before geting out of sight, he simply asked "How heavy is the Cap'n?"

James came out to see Dave almost out of sight, but he didn't care. James started to walk right for where he had been taken hostage, and he hoped that from there, he could find something, a trail or at least an idea of where to start the hunt. This was his fault in the first place, and he knew that the only way to set it straight was to kill the gorram man that had used him to get to Mal, and that was exactly what he was plannin on doin.

After Vincent took a quick look around, he turned round and saw Dave down on one knee waving his gun around. Vincent had a completely bewildered look on his face. The feds weren't a problem but if they were paying attention then Dave would have just given them away. Vincent had also noticed that it wasn't loaded when he put away. Still looking bewildered, Vincent spoke in a calm manor, "Now Dave, I don't mean to offend..." he quickly changed to a serious tone, "...actually forget that, I DO mean to offend. What was the bloody point in waving an UNLOADED gun around at anyone who could be more than happy to gun us down?" Vincent was fuming, he completely ignored his question. "Do anything like that again.....I'll shoot you myself, dong ma?" Vincent stormed off after James. "Bun tyen-shung duh ee-dway-ro." When he caught up he spoke to him trying to be as calm as possible, "OK, show me where it happened."

Dave just shook his head and kept on searching, walking paralel to the others. They just didnt have much sense of military drills, there called Drills because they drill them into you so much that you almost do them without realising... Dave felt quite the idiot when he realsied that Vincent was right, and flicked the quick-detatch lever on the scope, caught it, and looked through that for further possible problems...

Daniel took a cheap thrill in seeing Dave get scolded. A small part of him felt a little sorry for Dave. He looked like a severely beaten man now, but someone needed to take him down a peg. Daniel went over to his sister, "Well, this whole thing is certainly off to a good start, eh? Dave's made us a target and caused Vincent to break his concentration." Daniel knew as well as anyone that when Vincent was mad at someone he tends to lose all perspective.

James continued walking toward where Mal had been taken, and only looked back when he heard someone walking toward him, and he looked back at Vincent. "Alright, follow me..." James could tell Vincent couldn't stand it when people made stupid mistakes, and that Dave really got to him. James continued to walk, and then quickly turned around one more time and asked, "Hey, can you do me a small favor before we get to far into this?".

Haven was following beside her brother. She was lost in thought, watching where James went as they went along. The thought of Mal being taken just irked her. It also didn’t help that she noticed Jame’s incredible good looks. Shaking the thoughts away, boys weren’t number one on her list right now.

Smiling at her brother, she shook her head. “I think we are used to a lot more.” She looked over at Jayne, who seemed to keep scanning the area. “Besides, he reminds me a little of uncle Jayne.”

Vincent really wasn't liking Dave right now. Either he is actually that stupid or he's working with the person that took Mal, either way he shouldn't be here with them. As far as Vincent was concerned, one more slip up and he would be shot. If that happens, Dave should be praying for a quick death. Still a bit stressed out, Vincent replied to James, "Well, providing that your favor is reasonable. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly in the kind of mood where I'll happily do things for strangers."

Daniel smiled at his sister's comparison of Vincent and Jayne, "Its funny really. They are so much alike yet neither of them would care to admit it." Daniel just realised that now was not the time for these kinds of conversations. They should start paying attention or they could risk getting hurt, and from that brief expression on Haven's face, she realised that as well. "We should probably start paying attention. Tensions are high enough at it is and we shouldn't risk adding to that."

James looked to Vincent, then glanced back at Haven and Daniel, and spoke "I'd like you to calm down a bit." James looked forward, and kept walking, "if your gonna be mad, and lose your head, all your gonna be is dead weight. I don't want anyone gettin hurt, cause you or dave make a mistake..." James threw his head back, "I can't carry two people makin mistakes." James again looked at Vincent and leaned in, lookin back at Haven "and whats the story with the girl?" James asked with a slight grin.
