Nice Little Chat...

[Haven Tam]

Haven listened, realizing this was not unlike her own family's history pieced together. "You miss it there? You parents?" She didn't thing his story was unusual to say the least. it was interesting and she became even more intrigued listening ot him.

James felt like she was at least semi interested in what he had to say, which was different from all the other girls his parents arranged him with while he was in the core. He smiled and continued, "Not really, we had a..." James paused thinking of the best wording, "Fight..." James didn't like to really talk about his parents, they betrayed him, and he hated them for it. "I don't usually talk about them too much. I was sent to Jiangyin for a few years, I saved up some money and got myself a transport ship... alot like this, well not a firefly, but..." He started to get tounge tied, and paused before it got too bad. "You know what I mean, right?"

[Haven Tam]

Haven nodded, smiling. She could tell he must want to get away form the topic of his parents. So she decided to change it up some. "Yeah I know what you mean. I've seen a lot of ships in my time, but this is the only home. But it's good you got out. Here in the black it's 'keep flying'. Just keep flying and you get where you want in life."

[james]

James smiled, "Yeah, I've been doin that for the past few years..." James paused, and smiled at Haven, then looked down, "but it feels like all I'm doing is running from my past..." James trailed off, but quickly realized it and stopped. "So, nice ship you all got here... how long has this craft been in the air?" part of James didn't want to talk, about much of anything, he wanted to just sit there and listen to some of her stories, but he wasn't sure if she would be willing to tell any of them.

Haven curled her legs up in the chair, watching him. "So stop running from the past, run to the future." Thinking, she counted back the years. "A few months time will make twenty-six years. I've been here for nineteen-born and raised on this ship. My own father delivered me in the infirmary. Now I'm following his footsteps and doing as much as I can without having to test on the core planets." In truth, even though her father and aunt were no longer seriously hunted in the open, if she went for a doctor's liscense, she'd probably get kidnapped without anyone knowing. They all knew that very well.

James leaned back a little, and looked up. He smiled, "Yeah, I suppose i could do that..." Then looked back down at Haven. He just listened, and smiling. The longer he looked at her, the longer he hoped he could sit there. "Yeah, twenty-six years? A few months back was my twenty-sixth..." James smiled, "So your gonna be a doctor? Very noble, could use more people like you out here..." James was starting to run out of words, he knew this would happen, he just could never tell when it was going to happen. He wasn't good at talking to people, but no matter what, he was at least going to get her to keep talking, and he would keep listening. "So, ever been to the core?"

[Simon Tam]

Simon walked in leading River. Looking over to Haven and James, he said "Hey, everything ok?"

River was still staring letting Simon lead her. She was really spaced out at the moment worrying about Vincent.

[Haven Tam]

Haven smiled. "Well an extreme happy twenty sixth then." Blushing, no one besides family had told her that. "I have, but not out and about too much. Just into the town square." Looking up, she jumped up and hugged her father. "All is fine dad. Why wouldn't it be?" Looking down the corridor, she dropepd her voice. "Mal and Inara left Bella awhile ago though and Bella hasn't left. By Daniel left her earlier looking upset." Shrugging, she sat down next to James now, so her aunt and father could take over the chair if they wanted.

[Simon Tam]

Simonw as unsure of what to make of what Haven had just said, and simply said "Ok." and lening in towards haven asked "Keep an eye on your aunt, will you? I need to go and check on Vincent." and hugged her. Standing up straight, he turned around and hugged River before walking out the common room back to the infirmary.

[OUT- Infirmary]

James smiled, he realized he had already told her more about himself then he had ever told his buddies in the army, and everyone that he worked with on his last ship. "thanks.." James saw her blush, and couldn't help but smile more. "Yeah, personally I think most of the core is overrated... your not missin anything." James saw Simon and River walk in, but didn't know what to say, he waited till Haven was done. "Hello..." He tried to sound as polite as possible. James watched Haven sit next to him, and he smiled again. "So, well..." James thought for a moment, not able to stop smiling, "What can you tell me about the rest of the crew?"

River watched Simon leave, he was worried about her again. She could tell that much, but she was to worried about Vincent to care. River watched James and Haven talk she wasn't listening. She was waiting on Vincent so she could feel safe again.

[Haven Tam]

Haven knew the look in her aunt's eyes. She was waiting. She would let River wait, in thought. Keeping one eye out on River, she turned back to James. "I love the outer plantes because there is so much action and fun there. I enjoy that."

"Well, my parents have been married for twenty years. Simon and Kaylee. My father was raised on the core and met my mother through here. My aunt River here is his sister." She stopped, not knowing how much to reveal. "Erm, Mal fought in the war, with the browncoats. Aunt Inara and him tango with their feelings. She's a companion and opens many doors. Zoe is the second in commmand. She's lsot er husband on Miranda and had her son, Jay not long after. My brother Daniel does mechanics with my mom and is totally shy. Basically, we are all family here."

James laughed, "Yeah, the action, its why I moved out here." he smiled at Haven.

James listened and when she paused he felt like he should say something, but he didn't. "Miranda..." James said quietly under his breath. Why did that sound familiar. He could tell Mal was the type to have fought in the war. "Family sounds nice..." James smiled, part of him wanted to to say something more about his past, but he didn't know if she, or anyone else on the ship would accept him if they knew he was an alliance special ops, even though he was a deserter, he was still alliance. "Whats it like to live here?"

"The action nice, but I'm not usually allowed in. Today was a fluke." Leaning her head in her hand, she smiled a little wider. "Miranda. They got the signal out." That was all she said. He should hopefully figure it out form there. "Living here is fun. Everyone is a giant family. Growing up, I used to run all over the place. My brother is my twin, so I used to pick on him alot. I still do. And Jay is almost like another one."
