Jayne walked into the kitchen. There wasn’t much for breakfast but he wanted something hot. Looking he hollered. “Bella?” Waiting, no one came. Grumbling, he grabbed an egg from the fridge and a pan. He knew how to work the stove. He didn’t know if his food would come out right. Cracking the egg over the pan, he let the insides drip into the pan. He saw bits of shells but didn’t have the patience to fish them out. Turning the heat up all the way, he moved the pan so they eggs would mix up. Not a good idea. After a few minutes, smoke issued from the pan, burning his food. “Oh crap.”

Bella walked into the kitchen slightly confused. Pulling her hair back, she swore under her breath. "What did you do?" Bella grabbed a lid and covered the pan. The smoke stopped as she slid it off the burner and turned it off. "You should have woken me if you couldn't cook." Bella was mad. Livid actually which wasn't often. But he shouldn't be cooking if he was going to burn the food.
Taking a towel, she waved it around to billow the smoke out. The bad thing about being in air was you couldn't open a window.

Dave had rushed into the Kitchen following Bella, and what he saw made him laugh. She was shaking with fury and telling off Jayne. He shook his head, still laughing and went and sat in a chair in the corner, pulling out his book from a pocket.

Daniel trailed in, still half asleep. He looked round, eyes barely open and just about saw what was going on. Jayne had tried to cook again. It seems as though that everything Jayne has done has just caused Bella grief. "Jayne. Can't you go 5 minutes without causing problems for someone." Daniel was not happy. Bella was new here and he'd already scared the life out of her and burnt what was to be her kitchen.

Jayne grumbled. "Not my fault! You two were making kissy face somewhere and didn't come when I called." Sitting down next to Dave, he shrugged. "Food now?" He was hopeful and hungry. Turning ot Daniel, he pointed a warning finger. "Hey boy. I am your uncle and can still whoop you."

Bella threw a look at Dave that flashed anger. The smoke was starting to slightly disappear. Taking the pan, she ran cold water over it, making it steam. Reaching in the cupboard, she pulled out a berry protein bar and tossed it to him. "There's your breakfast." Bella grabbed a rag and started to clean up the stove. Steam rose form there as well, but it was fine.

Dave chuckled at Jaynes lack of eloquence, but was silenced by the look that Bella gave him and he looked down to his book, feeling slightly abashed. He chuckled slightly as she threw Jayne a protein bar, and continued reading, picking up where he had left off the previous night.

"She's not just a slave to come at your beck and call. She has her own life you know." Daniel didn't back down. He was now old enough to know that Jayne wouldn't have the chance to back up his threat. Plus, his entire family would tear him a new one if he did. "Also, what we do together is none of your business."

Vincent stepped into the kitchen with River. Before he could say anything, he was overwelmed by the burning smell. Jayne had obviously tried to cook again. "Oh dear god Jayne. You need to warn us before you try to cook something. What were you trying to make anyway?"

River stood silently by Vincent and rolled her eyes.
"You think after almost four decades on this ship you'd think that you would have figured it out you can't cook Jayne" said River looking at Vincent, River made a face that only Simon would know the true meaning of "Eggs that's what he was trying to make and don't threaten Daniel, or don't you remember Simon's threat Jayne or for that matter mine"
River held on to Vincent's waist. She knew that the gesture would probably get Mal after them for being all openly affectionate on his ship and then he'd give up yelling at them.
"Jayne, Mal let you have free range of the kitchen but I don't think that implied that you can burn down the kitchen." said River
She knew what she was saying would get Jayne mad at her, but she also knew that he couldn't hurt her if he tried. She was smaller, faster, and stronger than he was. She'd taken him down twice in two days back when they dealt with Miranda.
River had the ring Vincent gave her on her hand. It was really special to her, Simon wouldn't be happy. River knew there was alot more coming up that would make him a lot madder. In about two months River was going to start having morning sickness and then she'd tell them about the baby. River could feel Jayla inside of her she knew how amazing it felt to have a life growing inside of you.

"Eggs." Dave said simply to Vincent, but River had beaten him to it. he looked up from his book to the two of them standing by the doorway, then over to daniel and Bella. Muttering something, he returned to his book.

Jayne shook his head. He was an elder, Daniel should respect him. “I wasn’t saying that. I meant she’s the cook. Shouldn’t she cook.” Ripping open the protein, he bit into it. It was stiff and tasted bland. It wasn’t the best breakfast. He watched River and Vincent, but didn’t talk to them yet. “That may be so, but you are my nephew. You just met this girl and already you spent the night in her room. You’re acting like me.”
Jayne shrugged though, looking at Vincent and River. “Eggs. And I was hungry so I cooked. Nothing big.”

Bella felt her head hurting. Looking around, she sighed. “Don’t bother Daniel. I’m used to worst. Remember?” She smiled lightly, trying to make light of it all. But she realized he was right. It was her first night here. What would everyone think? Closing her eyes, she smiled at River. “Would you guys like anything before I leave?” Bella figured they weren’t being rude. She’d cook them something. Then she looked at Dave and Daniel. “Or you two?” Once she had the chance, she boil some water to wash up with. She had her soaps and wash things in her room. She’d wash there, used to basins.

Dave shook his head. "No I'm good thanks." he returned to his book. It was an old one, Even though it was a recent re-print. It was copied from a relic of Earth-that-Was- "The Player of Games" by Ian M. Banks, he loved this book, and it was one that he read often. He had yet to find another of the supposed "Series" but he doubted that there where any.

Daniel shook his head at Jayne's comment. "I'm nothing like you." He had taken great offence at being compared to him. He could have gone on and told Jayne what really happened but he had no right to know. He smiled back at Bella, "I'm ok for food at the moment. I'll just have some tea for now. If its not too mcuh trouble." Daniel always was too polite.
