Wash yawned as he doubled checked the controls again. He wasn't ready to take serenity off the autopilot yet. He loved that little feature. Every time he woke up in the middle of the night he would check it. He's make sure everything was fine out in the vast black. Yes this was where he made home and this is where he would die. Least he hoped so. Then again he hoped he's go out as epically as his father had too. He'd be flying until the day he died. It was something that all the crew knew in the first place. Wash was just like his father. Only thing difference was the fact that he had the fierceness and almost unshattering nerves as his mother. Devoted to Mal as much as his mother was. On top of that when provoked he could have a temper. Then again it didn't much surface because everyone kept him pretty happy. He twirled his chair around to see the shelf with his father's dinos on it. They never left the bridge. He had a set of his own actually only his had a nice lovely dodo bird and pteranodon and pterodactyl which really didn't look to different from each other. His dinosaurs were flying where as his dad's had been land.
His of curse were sitting on the top ledge of the controls however and he his blanket with him. Yes it did indeed have dinosaurs on it. One of those things he never got rid of. He folded it up and put it on the shelf moving his dad's dinosaurs on top of it. "Perfectly placed...Now to take this thing off autopilot." He looked back down at the controls hit a series of buttons and got comfortable turned the boat just a little to the right and keeping them on course. They were headed towards Persephone. Hopefully they'd have more than one job to take on. Or maybe it was a big job either way he's be fine. He'd heard that Haven was going to get off at Persephone as well. She was going off on her own but at least not to somewhere where their wouldn't be people who cared for her. He sighed it had been the first time in a long time that anyone had left the ship. He hoped that everyone was holding up well with the news.
He knew that Captain was having issues. After all he'd found the captain on the bridge when he'd been making sure that everything was okay before he went to eat. Things would be alright it would just take some getting used too was all. He shook his head and concentrated on the maps and controls in front of him. Soon enough though he was playing with his dinosaurs still very certain that they boat could fly itself for a little bit even off auto pilot.

"So this is what a Firefly bridge looks like?" Wondered John Scamandros as he wondered onto the bridge. Dressed in his usual Blue Leisure Suit, carrying a three quarter bottle of the booze he'd picked up in Athens, John was looking more then a little tipsy. He'd been celebrating the birthday of one of his old comrade's, a one man party as it so happened as he wasn't really in the mood to be explaining the history behind it.
Grinning heavily the passengers eyes fell on Wash. He'd seen the kid round once or twice since he'd been aboard, but this was their first meeting, hopefully he wasn't going to make a dick of himself like he'd done so many times. "So, you're the pilot then? I'm John Scamandros, and it's nice to meet ya." Yup, this definitely was going to go well. John had offered his hand, not quite sure if Wash was shaking type or not. It was fine either way, the Drinker just liked to know these things.

Wash was in the middle of an aerial battle with his pteranodon and pterodactyl. He was oblivious to anything else that might be going on on the bridge at that stand point. Sure it probably looked weird to other people. However everyone that wasn't a passanger knew Wash to be well crazy enough to play with his dino's when he was supposed to be flying. It wasn't like he wouldn't immediately jump on controls when he felt the ship move a direction it shouldn't go or something like that. After all he was an Ace pilot even if he didn't exactly go to school to be so. It was almost inbred in him. It was odd really how much like his father he was. Of course he had little bits and pieces of everyone that had raised him in him. After all, all the children of Serenity had grown up together with more mothers and fathers than most kids on planetside every got. It didn't matter that Wash had never met his father. The stories and everything else made him who he was and shaped him into being similar to his father. It helped that he wanted to fly since the time he could walk. Well his mom had told him that even before that he had calmed when crying if he was on the bridge.
Wash nearly jumped and but saved himself and placed his dinosaurs on the ledge where they were supposed to be and turned to the source of the voice. It was one of the passangers. He's seen him in passing but hadn't really met him or anything like that. After all Wash was either flying or doing random other things that kept him away from most people half the time. "Yes sir this is exactly what the bridge looks like. Ain't changed much over the years though I take it, it might be your first time in or on one of these babies. Flys like a dream if the right people are runnin' her." He laughed at himself. He was sure he sounded rather weird to the passanger and like he was babbling anyways.
"Pleasure. I'm Wash jr. Though most people just call me Wash” It was true no one really ever used the Jr. behind his name. He had been named directly after his father anyways. ”What granted you a jaunt onto the bridge? And to my humble place of happiness. Hope you approve of the ship and the ride thus far. If there is anything I might need to change to make it smoother let me know.” Wash was always making sure everyone was happy with the way things were running. Sometimes it wasn’t his fault if the ride got a bit bumpy but other times it could be.

Scamandros couldn't help but smile a little at the pilots playing. Everyone had their hobbies, and if his was having a bit of fun with some dinosaurs, who has he to complain or comment. To be honest it was kinda cool to see someone retain so much of their youth in this day and age, especially with all this talk of the Miranda stuff going round and the Alliance rumours.
"I've been on one or two before, but I've never actually seen the cockpit. Seems people are a might protective of their Fireflies, and I don't say I blame them." It also didn't help that he'd been stone cold drunk the few times he'd been on the other fireflies, something he hoped not to repeat here. But only time would tell. The Pilot seemed okay, and around his age as well, which should be a place. Seemed like the babbling kind, which would be interesting if he could get some stories out of him.
"It's nice to meet you, Wash. Thanks for not giving me a bullocking for bein' up here." It was definitely a nice booking bridge, and John had seen a few of them. Hell, he'd been in the pilot seat of a ship during a rather interesting tussle with the Alliance and the incapacitation of the pilot. "Was getting a bit bored twidling my thumbs, so I thought I'd have a quick look around and whatnot, and the cockpit seemed like a good place to go. So I came here, to the place of happiness as you so eloquently put it." John's smile opened up a bit and seemed to radiate happiness and friendliness. "The flight and the ship are doing brilliantly so far. No complaints from me at all, and you'll be the first to know if I do. Except maybe for Bella or Haven."

Very little phased Serenity’s pilot. After all his mom in his mind was a war hero and so was his captain. Wash of course knew that the browncoats had lost that war but he was sure that they wouldn’t had they known about Miranda and the likes. Of course who knew what could have sent the war in the favor of the browncoats. He just really didn’t like the Alliance. At least they didn’t often come too far off into the rim really. Not unless they wanted to try to catch people doing wrong which they never really could anyways. No the rim and the black has its own rules and rules that Wash lived by in a sense. Of course they were making for the border territories at the moment. He was hoping that a job would be on Persephone.
”Yes that is true and rightfully so.” He smiled at the John for a moment. ”Why don’t you pull up a seat and stay while. I’m a bit bored and would love to hear some stories if you got any to share.” Wash had stories of his own. However it was rare that he got passangers on the bridge. He was rather excited in a sense to have someone other than the norm in his little place. He laughed at John’s comment and listened to the answer to his questions. ”Good i’m glad it is satisfactory.” He smiled and then went to check the controls for a second and then turned back to John again. Of course the girls would know things faster than he did. They always did it seemed. After all Wash was usually up on the bridge anyways. ”So John what you drinking?” He could tell the other had had something to drink.

Scamandros grinned at the invitation. "I've certainly got a story or two to share. But it isn't to often that people actually invite me to tell 'em outside've a bar. Is there any particular brand of story that you enjoy or is tellers choice?" He said as he walked in and dropped himself into the co-pilots seat out of pure habit taking a swig of his booze as he did so. He figured if Wash didn't want him there, John'd know quick enough. He raised an eyebrow. "And why wouldn't it be satisfactory? You guys seem to take pretty good care of this ship."
Scamandros smiled at the mention of his alcohol. "This here is some of Athens finest rot gut. At least that's what the man that sold it to me would have you believe. Want some?" He asked as he offered the bottle to the pilot, hoping he wasn't making to bad of a mistake offering booze to the guy flying the boat.
