Overall personality;; Esmerelda is a reserved woman. This is an image she has built up over the years. When younger she ran along in a gang with her brother on Bernadette. A friend of his ran things and Esmerelda didn't do too much but she learned how to take care of herself. But that is something she has hidden since meeting her late husband. Instead she put on the whole proper appearance when she married an Alliance man. Smiles were faked at first but then came easy. She became a master at lying but the rest of her personality for that life is rather plain. She does what is right and hides her tougher side. Slowly she is finding out the true good and bad about her again.
Other;; Esmerelda is a great cook and very hands on with everything from knitting to helping out with little fix up jobs. She can pick up things quickly when a new task is brought up before her. When it comes to things she faults at comes hard on her. On and off through her life she has fought some minor depression; she'll have boughts where she just doesn't want to move from one spot. When she bounces back she can over compensate but she is learning to hone that in. Esmerelda is also terrible at fighting; she is submissive and caves too easily.

[/b] Much of Esmerelda's life as a child was spent on the streets. Her mother was abandoned by her father so she worked as often as possible to compensate for that. That left Esmerelda's older brother to help take care of her, so when he started turning to a friend's gang then she went along with him. It was tough at first but it helped her build up a certain toughness about her. She didn't go around picking fights but she didn't take people's crap. But when she went off on her own to go to a better school, things started to change.

Esmerelda wanted to be a nurse. But then she met a guy and fell in love. She softened up because he was form a well off family. With encouragement from her brother, she lied that she was an only child. A little over a year later she went by Mrs. Shephard. Life was a whirlwind trying to be a proper lady, hosting parties and being a good wife. There were times it didn't do well for her as she'd have moments where she got so down she was bed ridden or stayed in a chair all day long. But her husband understood. Then the understanding had to turn around when her husband got Parkinsons. Even after hundreds of years, the disease was still deadly even if they could stop the symptoms.

After two years, Esmerelda's husband wanted to end things. She wanted him to fight and enjoy what moments they could. But that wasn't an option for him. No, he didn't want to succumb in an embarrassing way. So after a couple more months together, the plan was set into place. Esmerelda bought some pills off the streets and one night he took the whole bottle of different ones. She sat there as he fell asleep and then he just stopped breathing. It took her a long while before she called the cops. Which is what caused problems. His family thought she murdered him for the money. But, a look into the finances showed there was just enough left to pay for a burial and that was it. Her husband had moved his fortunes for Esmerelda and everyone demanding to know where it was. She wouldn't tell. After police had talked to her many times, she decided to slip away. Packing what she could carry in a knapsake, she left her home and is now wandering around, looking for someplace to go until she can safely get her money.
