She had spent the entire day walking the docks, looking for a ship to board. Today was the day she would leave no matter what. Mostly because she had no where to go after tonight. She had given up her room and quit the job she had. Plus she had sold some of her books and other small items for that extra cushion. Arabella needed someplace to go for a few months while she figured out a planet to settle on. Or if the ship was right then there. As long as it wasn't like Corion then she was ok. A shiver went down her spin as she pushed along.
A threadbare sweater hugged her arms, keeping out the breeze. It was autumn on the planet and Arabella couldn't stay for the winter. She would surely get sick again and she couldn't afford medicine. This was a huge factor of getting of this planet. She had been here over eight months so it was time for a change. Staying in one spot too long meant a higher chance of someone finding her. Though it had been four years, her grandmother still put on te charade of looking for her. Apparently some suitor vowed to the Sinclair woman that'd he'd keep looking until Arabella's twenty-fifth birthday. It was annoying because her grandmother had lied that she was kidnapped when she had ran away. Bettie played dumb and acted concerned but she would give Arabella a heads up when able. Being on a ship, neither Arabella or Bettie would have to worry about a thing. She could just go along and live her life peacefully until out on the rim.
Shifting her bags around, a couple new ships caught her eye. She wasn't good at noticing the class of the boat but she could tell the scummy captains from the good ones. In one ship, Arabella saw a mix of men and women coming out. They all looked like good people. Adjusting the hat that hid her hair, she stood off to the side in an attempt to figure out the best person to talk to.

I 'V E. B E E N. C O L L E C T I N G. Y O U R. W O R D S.
L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Haven was in one of her uppity moods. She had just finished talking to the Colonel and he said if Malcolm dropped her off somewhere, she had a job as a medic on her own. Now it was just telling her father and the rest of the family. Her brother, Robert, was the only one who knew for now. As far as she knew he was supportive. She knew she'd probably miss him and her Aunt River the most. Haven was very close to their aunt so it'd be hard to leave. But she'd find ways to send them waves and she was sure Serenity and Steamhardt would meet up for jobs and whatnot. Her cousin Alora-Mal and Inara's daughter-was on the ship. That was another strong pull along with her Uncle Dave; the fact she had "family" there helped her chose a ship. The Tam girl needed to fly solo from her family and make her own name. Like when her mother had accepted the job on Serenity twenty-some-odd years ago.
Standing out in the light, she breathed in. Smog from the ships, dust and spices mixed together. Different people littered the docks, stirring up the dirt road. Malcolm, Zoe and her boy went to buy food. Her father and mother went off to buy supplies while Jayne probably was off to the doxy house. And Haven had no clue where Inara was but that was ok. It was her and Robert's job to find passengers. Serenity was still looking for a job but they needed money to get by until they found one. With hands clasped behind her back, she smiled before turning the direction of her brother to beckon him. "Come on Tristan! I don't want to talk to people myself." Being siblings it was easy to pick on one another. Plus, the Tam twins had to share a shuttle. It was sometimes aggravating but Inara's old curtains helped divide things up. Haven would be gone soon enough then he could have the place to himself. Maybe then he'd meet a girl and ask her to stay. That was one thing she teased Robert about often but it's not like either of them could do much dating. They lived in a ship for heaven's sake.
Gazing over the crowd, a timid girl in a grey knit cap caught her eyes. She was standing along the edges of where Serenity was docked. Maybe she was a possible passenger. Once Robert was by her, she tugged on his arm. "Hey we should talk to her and see if she's lookin' for a ride." When Haven talked it was between proper like her father and a little broken like Uncle Jayne. Sometimes people were tease if she was a lady or a roughneck but she shrugged it off and promised to go all River on them. It took awhile to get to joking about that but they were there. Haven didn't know her aunt when she was bad, but they all knew. Now River was as sweet as can be, like the rest of the crew. Mostly. "Come on. You can use her supposed charm on her." She attempted to drag her brother with her as she practically bounced to the girl.
"Hello. I saw ya gazing over Serenity. Ya' lookin' for a ride someplace? We got plenty of room and some fair prices. And none of us bite. Oh and I'm Haven and this is my brother..." Haven bumped her hip against his leg trying to get him to pipe up. She couldn't do all the talking, especially since she talked a mile a minute and was probably freaking her out. The bags gave away she was looking for passage, which was always a good thing. Malcolm would be happy that they got a passenger but maybe not that there was a bit of mystery about her. Everyone had their stories though. Her father did and now Malcolm accepted him as one of his own. Serenity did that to people-made them family whether they expected it or not. Whether her uncle cared to admit it or not, everyone held this as the truth.

Scamandros himself paused in front of Serenity. It didn't look like much of a ship, but it seemed to have a lot of history to it. And despite his self proclaimed ignorance, he did enjoy a little bit of history. Especially if said history was entertaining enough and could be told over a bottle or eight of alcohol, no matter what watered down said booze was.
Just off to his left he noted the Tam's greeting a new arrival. A small smile grew on his face grew on his face. If all the crew of the ship was even half that friendly, then they'd get on swimmingly. Especially with the crate of social lubricant known as Jimmy's Dockside Larger that had been remanded into his possession thanks to a drunken bet. He'd been pushing a trolly with the crate and his bag of worldly possessions around with him for a while, and he was beginning to think that the Serenity might just be the ship for him.
As he waited for one of the teens to turn to him, Scamandros may a half-pie effort to make his well worn blue leisure suit look respectable, hell he even tucked in his yellow shirt and hoped that his beard didn't look to unseemly. In between his attempts he took sips from a bottle of Jimmy's larger that he had resting on top of the crate, looking somewhat relaxed.

Tristan leaned against the wall of Serenity as he watched everyone slowly exit the ship. Another planet, another day. Tristan preferred staying with the ship to going out, but that didn’t mean he wanted to get stuck socialising. He didn’t care about getting passengers. In the long run they just mucked up everything for the rest of them. Well more him than anyone else. The more strangers, the more baggage, which meant the more he had to go around trying to avoid everyone; and his parents wondered why he liked to hide out in the engine room or his and Haven’s shuttle. He adjusted his shirt and trousers as he stood up, his eyes slowly taking in the massive amount of people manoeuvring about the docked ships. Each ship was trying to sell seats to the people going by. It was rather sickening to watch, but then he remembered that was his and his sister’s job this go ‘round. The captain had given them a job to do and that meant he had to do it. Somehow he always knew when Tristan got to hiding away in his shuttle and not pulling his weight.
“Ai Yah Tien Ah,” Tristan exclaimed under his breath. This was definitely not what he wanted to be doing planetside. He moved from the door and settled into a spot next to her. Next thing he knew Haven was tugging on his arm and dragging him off to speak with some girl that was staring at the ship. He didn’t have any charm…not really. Okay so maybe he had a way with people, but he hated people. It just figured that the more he hated something the better he was at it, save for technology and engines. With an embittered sigh he allowed his sister to drag him off.
Tristan’s gaze finally locked on to the woman they were moving to. By the look of her she was well brought up. The way she held herself was too proper for most of the rim. She was probably from a core planet at one point in time or another. Grew up there, learned the best that money had to offer, got bored with the perfect life and disappeared one day on the back of some piece of gos se ship. Then again maybe she was forced out here by a husband or someone else before managing to get free and disappearing. There was something that pulled at him for a second while his sister prattled on. He wasn’t one to normally notice another human being, let alone a woman, but at first glance she was rather intriguing. Intriguing was good.
Tristan was lost in thought about the woman until Haven bumped him. Apparently she had just introduced him without him even noticing it. “Right…I’m Tristan, but call me TJ if you like. My sister here hits all the selling points in just a few seconds. But I promise you this ship here is the nicest you’re going to find. It’s a smooth ride and it’ll take you where you want to go like any other ship out there, but it’ll be a real home during that time. I can guarantee you won’t find that anywhere else.” Tristan wasn’t normally one to try to sell his home to others, but there was definitely something about this girl that made him want to try. His eyes flickered from her for a second to land on a gentleman that seemed to be waiting for one of them. He lightly touched his sister’s arm, gesturing to the gentleman. He’d try to finish the sales pitch to this woman and she could move on to someone else. Really he just wanted to figure out why this girl was interested in getting off planet.

Sure she had a privileged life once but it wasn’t for her. If that were so, she wouldn’t be wearing clothes that were practically rags and a sweater with a hole that was forming. No, she’d have kept her fine clothes and gone about her life. But that wasn’t what she wanted. Arabella wanted a real place to call home and to have a family. Maybe not of blood but made up of people she was close to friendship wise. Right now Betty was the only one but she had no means to leave Londinium. Least she become a fugitive and accused of taking Arabella. And Bella wouldn’t want that of her second mother.
Arabella was a bit taken aback but the sudden hyperness of the girl. She certainly was full of energy. She herself had no where near that much spirit but she sure tried to at times. Meaning when she actually felt relaxed and happy to be someplace. Her brother seemed much calmer and the level she was used to. Perhaps because the other was so full of energy that she had enough to go around to everyone. ”I’m Arabella. People call me Bella though.” Shifting her weight, Arabella felt uncomfortable. She wasn’t sure what kinds of questions to ask since it had been over a year since she last had to fly anywhere. As the girl waved and bounded off to another guy, the blond watched her go off. Well it looked like she is on her own now. Her gaze went back over to Tristan as she smiled in her nervous manner.
”I’m not sure where I’m going yet. When work pops up on the rim looking for a cook then I’ll get off.” There were always little shops people attempted to open up or someone made rich out on some little moon wanting help around his home. As long as they knew nothing about her grandmother looking for her she was all set. ”I’ve been tyring to leave here for a few days now but nothing good as come along.” More so no crew she felt comfortable hoping on a ship with. Most were made up of all men and she vowed to never do that again. At least one female was nice to have on board because usually it meant the guys were at least slightly respectful. Biting on her lower lip, Arabella gazed along the area around them. She was not good in awkward moments like this since Corion and it showed.

L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Whenever planetside, Haven liked to go all out. She liked to have her make-up done and wore something a bit tighter. Her father would prefer for it to not be that way, but she was a girl in her twenties. She had to use her assets to attract potential passengers. Not like anyone had to worry about her sleeping with one of them. She would be off the ship soon enough anyways. ”Oh stop complaining. i only get to boss youa round for a little while more.” Only Tristan knew of her plans to leave. She knew he wasn’t thrilled for her but maybe when he was ready to leave Serenity a job would open up for him. Whistling, Haven was bored waiting about her someone to come along. At once the Lord brought them two potentials.
Standing in front of the girl when she introduced herself, Haven looked between her brother and Arabella. Why did people have to be so dense? Flirting was the best way to get what you want. A new passenger, a low rate on a ride or even a decent price on fresh produce. [color=70964B”Well, brother, I’m sure you’ve got it from here. I am off to talk to this one over here. Play nice and don’t bite.” Haven walked backwards for a couple steps before turning to hop the rest of the way to John. Sticking out her hand, Haven had one of her warmest smiles on. One thing she got form her mom was the genuine smile that just came from deep within her. Gazing over his possessions, her eyes fell on the alcohol. Oh, something half decent that she’d liek. She was a hard liquor type of girl and was building up to be able to handle the cheaper stuff. being off Serenity meant certain freedoms since she would be away from your parents.
”Well if you share that maybe I can lower the price of a room.” Mischief played behind her eyes. Kaylee was this way with strawberries and Haven with alcohol. Especially whiskey, beer and tequila.

Scamandros grinned heavily in answer to both Haven's smile and her comment about the alcohol. He'd only just met the girl and he already liked her. While she probably wasn't a heavy drinker like himself, it'd certainly be interesting to see how much she could handle. John quickly accepted the handshake, hoping his hands weren't to rough on the young lass. A few years of hard work had hardened them and roughed them up a bit, along with more then a few fist fights.
"I'd be more then happy to share my booty, Miss," conceded the Hitchhiker hoping that whatever deal he made with her, didn't get him into trouble with someone. "So long as you and yours don't mind Larger of the rather cheap and strong variety."

The girl introduced herself as Arabella, better yet Bella. It was a proper name. Tristan was on the verge of saying so when Haven piped up saying her peace. Apparently Haven didn’t need much more convincing that he had things covered as she bounded off to the other stranger waiting. He didn’t even get a chance to throw out any of his own comments at her, not that he had any. Sure he was smart and witty, but actually voicing those thoughts took more courage than he had. Tristan watched his sister go with a hint of amusement in his brown eyes. How she could be so hyperactive was beyond him. It was definitely something she got from their mother. It was mildly awkward standing there with the strange girl that was dressed in rags, but embodied proper posture. He tapped his thumbs together for a second before she responded to his sales pitch.
“You cook? This is definitely the right boat for you. We have a fully stocked galley and you can have your run of it. I’m sure the Captain would be just fine with that, seeing as how we don’t really have a decent cook in the lot,” Tristan said. Strangely enough there was a bit of enthusiasm in his voice. It was strange to hear, even to his ears. It was probably why he suddenly became even more anxious. His hand ran through his hair, ruffling it even more than it already was. Wow could he botch this even more? How was he supposed to make this sell? Think. Think. Think. He said the words over and over in his mind for a moment, letting the chant calm him. More and more people were starting to swarm the streets and he was beginning to feel claustrophobic and rather trapped.
“Well, what kind of boat are you looking for? That’s what you have to ask yourself. If the destination doesn’t matter what does? The people? The experience? The adventure?” Tristan asked. His eyes were dancing all over the place now. Truth was he was too anxious to really meet her eyes and the crowds of people were really getting to him, no matter how many deep breaths he took. “Take Serenity here. We have a full crew of nine. Five males. Four female. We’re a family more than anything. That’s not something you’ll find on other boats. If you’re looking for that sort of thing you can find it here. If you’re looking for a crazy experience, like what they describe on the Cortex, you won’t find that with us. We don’t run planet to planet picking up hikers for a day or so just to exchange goods and experiences. We’re honest traders and when things get tough we hire out our rooms.”
Tristan closed his mouth for a second. He hadn’t realised just how much he’d been talking until the dull throb started in his larynx. Once again his hand ran through his hair, his body giving away the tension in his limbs. “Sorry. I got carried away. Look. I’ll level with you. You’re waiting for the right boat to come along, right? One with people that seem trustworthy and honest? If you don’t find that here you won’t ever find it. We’re your best chance to get off planet. Trust isn’t easily earned and there honestly isn’t enough time to get you to trust me before the days light is gone. So I’m not asking you to trust me, or trust that this is the right boat for you. I’m just asking you to believe that maybe what you’ve been waiting for is right here in front of you.” Tristan levelled his gaze on her. Trying to get her to open up just for a second and maybe trust that his intentions were pure. If he couldn’t seal this deal now he wasn’t sure he could at all.

The fact that they needed a decent cook perked Arabella's interest. "Well then things might benefit both ways. I hate just sitting on a boat doing nothing." She got real bored real fast that way. And since she had read all her booms several times, there wasn't much she could do. Unless someone else had books she could borrow. "I can work with anything, even protein." Arabella's usual discomfort when it came to being around any guy came around. Even with someone who was trying to be kind. Shifting the bag on her shoulders around, the weight was killing her. All she wanted was to collapse down and relax for a moment. First she would humor the guy as he went about trying to sell the ship to him. She didn't care about half the things he said, as with most, when it came off as a pitch like that. Plus, something nagged at her. She had heard the name Serenity before outside the history of the war. From her grandfather she thought but pehaps she was mixing up facts...
Arabella furrowed her brow together as he went on his tyraid. She wasn't sure if he was really passionate about having passengers or if they really needed money. Normally she would have walked about but something told her not to. What she wasn't sure but she wasn't sure about much in her life anymore. Except she didn't want to go back to Londinium for any reason at all. When he finally took a pause, she went to speak but Tristan went off again. Now there was the sincerity she wanted to hear. Not the bs to get the most bang for the buck. Pulling at her sweater, she looked down for a moment while she mulled over things. This did seem like her best option; if everyone was more like family it couldn't be a bad place to ride on for a bit. Nothing like what she had experienced before nor the pubs se had picked work up at. "If you're done that little rush of words, then we can actually talk." Arabella wasn't trying to be mean, in fact it was the opposite. Her tone was very soft and mellow, like a little mouse. Something only Betty would sometimes call her.
A sigh escaped her lips. "Those little pitches about destination don't work on me. Not much matters to me except that no one crosses...lines." Her whole body shifted as unpleasant memories surfaced. Arabella pushed those aside to get to her point. "But if everyone is more like family then I'm sure this is the right place for me. I don't know if I'll leave in a month or when I run out of money so I want to at least be feel at ease wherever I am." Slowly she began to feel a bit more at ease. At the end of his rant when he seemed to be more real with her helped with that. It was odd that her nerves were calmig down like so without her usual breathing thay she did. Sounded pretty cliche but just withdrawing a moment helped her. "What about fare? If you guys need a decent cook perhaps something can be worked out? Or do I need to speak with the captain about that? Because honestly if I am able to cook for the crew I'd be a lot happier. I feel odd simply sitting around all the time, especially since I don't have much to amuse myself." Cooking was another time she felt relaxed and that's usually how she broke the ice when there were a lot of guys around. Even if they were nice, her irrational worries kicked in and just made her seem either snobby or like she might kill everyone. Arabella actually talked more on a personal level and laughter came easy. Plus, if she got them to like her cooking, if her past came out maybe they wouldn't throw her right off. Or, just maybe, she'd have someplace to call home.

Inara was lost in her own little world, she wasn't to sure what would happen to them this day, nor did hse really want to know. But then again maybe she did, she had heard some people talking as she got close to the ship. She had known the Captain of the ship which was why she was heading back, and wondered where he was, but stopping as she saw everyone talking to one another. She didn't want to butt into anyone or any conversation, so she just decided to sit down and listen to them talk. Not that she was ease dropping, because her mind were already going some place else as she just heard there talking as noise of some kind.

Completely forgeting herself, she jumped as if electricity went through her. "Oh yeah I'm Haven. No fancy nickname, just plain old Haven." A smile teased on Haven's lips. Anyone with booze earned a huge plus in her eyes. And Jayne's too she would think. "Well I don't have the tolerance of my uncle but a good buzz from anything is good in my book." Nodding, she slipped her hands in her pocket before tilting her head. This guy seemed the complete opposite of the girl Tristan was talking to. It would be interesting to have a variety of new faces around. "So where are ya headed? Or does it not matter much cause Serenity here is open to new people with interesting stories and great things to share." With Haven she always got right to the point. She held herself confidently so that helped. Her brother, though, was so withdrawn because of his abilities that he had a hard time. Even though she'd grown up around it, Havendidn't understand why he was so special. It's not like he had gone to the academy like River. But it did make her a belivier when people claimed to be able to see the future or have a sixth sense.
"We're a rag tag bunch but are fair. All of us are close like family and tend to make others feel that way. So no one ever has to be afraid to make jokes or tease. We can dish it right back." John seemed like a guy who would have fun with them like that. Even if he needed a bit to drink frst. She could respect that. Being the end of her mini pitch, all she did was leave her smile on as he decided things.
From te corner of her eye, she notived her Aunt Inara. Waving her hand, she was surprised to see her there without Mal. He must've still been out gathering food and supplies.
now Inara is added to the end of the order previously mentioned

Scamandros raised an eyebrow at Haven's jump but otherwise said nothing. She seemed interesting enough, if a little weird and maybe a bit fun. "The name's John Scamandros, with no fancy nickname either. It's nice to meet someone who likes a bit of a drink," Greeted Scamandros. "This stuff here'll definitely give you a buzz, that's for sure. And probably your Uncle as well, wherever he happens to be." This girl definitely seemed interesting enough. "To be honest I'm a fan of the saying, 'life is a journey, not a destination'. I don't mind going as far as my coin'll take me." Shoving his own hands in his pockets, John was giving off what he hoped was some friendly vibes. He'd always been open and friendly with everyone he met, despite his history and this Haven was certainly giving him leave to do just that. As direct as she may have been, she seemed nice enough, and interesting to boot. Hell she might make a good drinking buddy yet.
"I think this is beginning to sound like my kinda ship," Conceded John as he let out another smile. A crew that had a sense of humor was just his thing, heck he might even be able to pick up a few new ones. Where would a person like me need to sign if he wanted to hope aboard your fine ship? And would you like some a taste of my fine alcohol before you make your final decision?" He asked as he took his already opened bottle of booze and offered it to Haven.
Turning his gaze towards Inara he couldn't help but let out a whistle. This certainly was going to be an interesting trip if all the crew were this beautiful.

Tristan was relieved that Arabella knew her way around a galley. They usually all fixed for themselves when jobs were going on, but it was those times in which they all sat down together that really made them family. If Arabella’s cooking was half as good as it sounded like then they were definitely going to keep her in the galley. “If you can work with protein like you said, I’m sure you’ll be able to have free reign of the galley whenever you want. We can definitely use you here so you won’t have to worry about keeping yourself entertained for however long you’ll be with us,” Tristan said with a nod of his head. The Captain wasn’t always keen on letting guests have free reign of anything on Serenity, but Tristan was hoping he’d make an exception for Arabella. There was only so much grub you could eat. Not that Tristan was knocking any of the other crew for their cooking skills, but there was a reason why some of the crew didn’t cook.
Tristan closed his mouth after his rant letting Arabella finally speak. A slight pink coloured his cheeks as he ran a hand over his face. Shiny now she thinks you’re an idiot his brain murmured in the back of his head. It was obvious just how bad he was at this. He wasn’t a people person and he definitely wasn’t good at selling tickets onto their boat. It was apparent that his pitches weren’t working and when Arabella said as much Tristan ruffled his hair. The top was definitely sticking up all over the place now and he didn’t much care to fix it. It was a nervous tick and as bizarre as it sounds he actually did find it calming.
The calm was short lived, however, as Arabella finished her sentence and Tristan watched her body shift, her whole demeanour changing for those few seconds. That’s when he felt the first flicker of something pull at his mind and he mentally pushed it to the back of his mind. He didn’t want to know, but it was now apparent that something had happened before to her. There was clearly baggage there, on her shoulders, a weight so heavy that Tristan briefly wondered if she hadn’t quite come to terms with whatever had happened to her. That thought shifted quickly to anger. How could someone scar her in such a way? They deserved to be punished. The thoughts burned in his mind for a moment before he pushed that away as well. He was starting to shift his attention elsewhere. He had to keep his head in the here and now, not wandering into someone else’s past.
“We are family. Some of us quite literally. The pilot’s mother is the first mate. My mother is the mechanic, my father’s the medic. I grew up on this boat. So everyone else is basically family to me in some way or another. It’s home,” Tristan said with a shrug of his shoulders. There’s wasn’t anything else he could say about that. Serenity was his home and the crew was his family, the only people in his life that he cared for. That’s what the ‘verse did for you. It threw a whole lot of misfits together in one place and made them family. It was a wonderful thing.
“I’m sure something can be worked out. You’ll have to speak with the Captain to be sure, but I think we can definitely arrange something. I’m sure we can keep you busy enough that you’ll never get too bored and if you do start getting bored some of us have quite the library of books you can read through. If you like that sort of thing. For the most part though we’ll probably keep you pretty busy in the galley. Especially if you’re a good cook, which is more than what we have,” Tristan said with a small smile pulling at the corner of his lips. Oddly enough he was feeling more relaxed that he had been before. Now that he didn’t have to pitch a seat he could actually find some enjoyment in socializing, as crazy as that sounded, even in his own mind. This woman was definitely intriguing. “So what do you think? You interested in meeting the rest of the crew and getting set up in a room?” Tristan caught sight of Inara sitting not far from them and he smiled in her direction. He gestured her over so that Arabella could meet her. ”Speaking of crew. Arabella this is Inara Serra, a former Companion. Inara this is Arabella.”

Inara listened to what everyone had to say and couldn't help but smile, that was the kind of person she was. She was interested in meeting new people, so this was perfect, she placed her hands on her hips. A very kind smile on her face, and looked at everyone. Since they knew her name there was no need for her to tell them who she was.
"It's a pleasure to meet you" She said with a slight bow of her head.

It almost seemed too good that she found a ship this quickly on her second day of looking. Opening her eyes back up, she averted her gaze around before settling on Tristan. "I'm not a short order cook but I'm fair in figuring out something everyone wants. I hardly sleep so I don't mind cooking through out the day." Free reign to her didn't mean at everybody's beck and call. She had enough of that working in the run down spots that held the title of pub or restaurant. Breakfast was always one thing but dinner she liked to make with as little input as possible. Hopefully the crew was an easy bunch to get along with and had easy tastes. Nothing was worse then if everyone had restrictions on what they liked. Allergies were easy to work with., picky eaters not so much.
A brow raised in confusion. Tristan certainly had an oddness about him which he didn't even try to hide. It was a little reassuring because it made her feel like he had nothing to hide. Her experience showed emotionless men were ones she had to worry about the most. Trying to ease up, Arabella wanted nothing more then to run from everything in her past. Hopefully this ship would take her from her worries. "Wow I guess you all are." There wasn't too much else she could say. She was exactly the best with small talk and mindless chit chat. Get her in the kitchen and she could talk up a storm. That the girl had picked up from Bettie over the years.
All and all Arabella was sold on hitching a ride with this crew. "Well how about I make something for everyone tonight. If you can keep your captain out of the kitchen then I can show him that I'd be worth it. As long as no one tells him whats going on." If she could get her fare knocked off even a little, maybe she can stretch her ride if they are ok with it. Her gaze went back over Serenity. She just couldn't shake the itch in her mind of her grandfather talking about Serenity. Maybe it was the battle fifty some odd years ago and she was confusing things. It was something Arabella did often now. Lack of sleep, her anxiety and always looking over her shoulder had left her ready to collapse. "Hmmm I just may raid somebody's books then. My few are worn and practically memorized. Been a long while since I've been around anyone who owns more then five books." Mostly because most people didn't have the strength to carry them around from ship to ship.
Despite her normal things she was alert about, they were slowly being diminished as the minutes passed. As long as no Alliance stuffies came around, she could handle most anything. All she needed was someone who would recognize her and expose her. This didn't seem like a crew that'd tolerate that. And none seemed like the scary men from her past. Then again, she had yet to meet Jayne. "Sure why not. There's nothing tying me to this rock and I am in need for a power nap. And then I can finally look for my place in this galaxy." As calls went out over the cortex, she'd ask for ears to keep open in case there was a cook needed someplace. Until then she'd enjoy the journey there. And the bed she was going to collapse in, no matter how uncomfortable it was. Fiddling with the straps of her bag, she looked up to Inara. Arabella's composure was almost lost; not because she recognized her but because she was afraid the other woman would recognize her. In an attempt to push irrational fears aside, she cleared her throat and smiled. "Nice to meet you as well.” Arabella returned the gesture before a rigid smile appeared. Honestly at this point she just wanted to check out the galley and find out where she’d be resting her head until she had to cook.
