I'm writing you aboard this hunk of metal just barely floating. Her name is Steamhardt and I've already fallen in love with this ship as strange as that sounds. The hums and purrs of the engine call me to it. Its rather odd, I've never felt such a pull to any other machinery. I didn't want to settle down in one place so soon after running from my family's estate but as each minute passes while I'm here, it feels more and more like home. The owner and leader of this ship is a saint. He helped me out of a scuffle. I'm embarrassed to admit it Diary but I'm more than useless in a fight. I guess I kind of deserved it. I had called the man out on a scam. I guess my intellect is far advanced than that of your average citizen... and I hate to admit even more so that... I have a problem with flaunting it. He had grabbed me by my golden locks and threatened to sell me in the black market as a whore or something. Granted I was flattered by a few of the terms he used to describe my looks but I was not about to become a drugged up unregistered companion on a backwater planet on the rim. I'm not yet that desperate for work...
In sauntered Colonel John Bishop. I'm not sure what he was doing on that edge of town or what he was thinking when he ended up freeing me. I don't care either. I got out of there unscathed and without too much damage to my hair. He too me back to his ship, this ship, Steamhardt and asked what I was doing on this planet and so on and so forth. Apparently I looked soft and shiny. I had dressed down but apparently I still looked of upper-class. Which, sadly I couldn't figure out how to conceal since I have a problem with a slight vainness problem if you haven't noticed yet Diary. All in all I'm excited to announce that I was welcomed as a passenger to travel to a distant planet somewhere and hopefully create a better life than my parents wanted for me. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Although I was thinking of mentioning to the Colonel that I am great with machines and repair work and see if he'd mind me staying aboard as his personal mechanic... who knows what tomorrow will bring though...
