Basics:
Name: Robert Tam
Age: 23
Picture:
Build(slim, muscular, heavy set, etc…): Slim built thought with enough working muscle just to lift engine parts and other such things
Hair: Brown short hair which is typically messy in appearance.
Eye color: brown
Height: 6’1”
Skin Tone: Fair skin which burns rather easily.
Personal:
Personality (a paragraph at least): Robert or Bobby/Robbie, depending on who is talking to him, is very much reserved. Some might even say he takes after his father far too much and not enough after his mother. The complete opposite of his twin, Robert has a hard time letting his guard down even around the most comfortable and trustworthy of friends. He doesn’t like the idea of being out of control which has lead him to steal clear of alcohol and cigarettes for he doesn’t like putting substances into his body that could alter the way he thinks.
A lot of people don’t understand why he never followed in his father’s footsteps, in terms of the medical profession, but he says it is because he understood engines. Moving parts were always so simple for him as if in his mind he could deconstruct things into their simpler parts. Or maybe it was because as a young lad he spent a vast amount of time in Serenity’s engine room just listening to the hum and whirls of the parts as they floated through the Verse.
In terms of relationships Robert prefers not to get involved. Things just seem so much simpler when the only people you have to look out for are your own blood. While he is grateful for all the things Serenity has done for him, unlike his sister he doesn’t seem to share the ideas that his shipmates are family. They are close companions are most but he has always been far more reserved around them than his own blood. Of course he tends to open up more when they don’t have new passengers on board. It is sort of like a never ending cycle of his natural introverted nature speckled with hints of extroversion, so of like the tides. Not that anyone could say he is as predictable as high tides.
Some might call him a bit clueless as he is often slow to pick up on subtle womanly wiles. Though it is not for a lack of trying but more like misunderstandings, he just has trouble picking out the things that are so obvious to others. The happiest you will ever see Robert is when he is just hanging out with his sister or tinkering with things in the engine room.
Background (a paragraph at least): Robert has lived his entire life upon Serenity. Born and raised he has no desire to leave. So the crew members on the ship are the closest thing he has to family, despite the fact that a majority of the time they always seem far too wild for him. Jayne… wild, unpredictable, and gun crazy. Malcolm…strong yet soft and a leader. Inara…alluring, mysterious, and strong willed. Zoe… fierce, sad, and a bit broken. Then there is Zoe’s son who I am still trying to figure out. Some days he apparently acts just like his father but others all Robert can see are his mother’s traits. These people make up Robert’s extended family and while he doesn’t always agree with them, at times, he always loves them.
Robert first got interested in mechanics after spending much of his youth sleeping in the engine room. It seemed that only the steady whirl of parts could get this young boy to go and stay asleep. It was sort of like white noise for him with all of the problems of the day just melting away and giving in to sleep. He always liked the engine room because it was a place he could go without being in anyone’s way. It was his father who suggested to him that perhaps he should follow in the footsteps of his mother.
Now it has gotten to the point in his career if he wants to make a living then he has to be willing to leave his home, though unlike his sister he doesn’t want to leave Serenity. Robert understands that in order to make a name for himself he has to step out of his parent’s shadow but that idea is so foreign, unsettling, and uncomfortable. It is not that he isn’t anxious , like his sister, but more so the relationships he has with his family mean a lot more. Which is why in recent months after finding out about his sister’s idea to leave Serenity he has become a bit more distance from her. If your own twin doesn’t want to stick by your side then what’s the point?
Career/Occupation: Mechanic
Alliance or Browncoat or Niether: Browncoat
Talents/Special Abilities: Just engines and the ability to be very very quiet. Most don’t really seem to know he is in the room unless he talks. A strong silent type unless he is around his sister. He is pretty marvelous when it comes to working on engines but horrible when it comes to teaching others about them. Things just sort of work for him and he can’t explain how or why.
Likes: His family is obviously the foremost at his mind. Books are a close second though he has stopped buying them given the fact that his sister always has a bountiful supply. Why buy when you can just borrow? Plus it is not like he ever really keeps them for a long time, only the ones he likes in which he has to go through a long arduous begging process. Engines as that has become the main focus of his profession. Hs sneakers, never boots always sneakers. They are just far more comfortable yet a bit less functional given the sometimes harsh climate the gang must travel through on the rim. He likes having the ship free of passengers as it always feels like they are invading his home. After all the Serenity is really the only home he knows.
Dislikes: The idea of his sister leaving him behind though he understands the idea, the taste of water as it is just so bland, coming into his side of the shuttle. It is not that he doesn’t like people but more so he doesn’t like his things being moved around which is inevitably what happens. Robert is the type who likes to make small piles of things rather than having a neat orderly space, unless it is in the engine room. Robert doesn’t like being forced out of the engine room to get some “real” sleep. His mother was allowed to sleep in the hammock the majority of the time yet he has not seemed to earn that same privilege. Robert hates lists as they are just useless strips of paper to him.
Other(normal clothes, weapons, etc…): Robert is hardly out of reach from his favorite brown coat. He sort of likes to stalk around the ship wearing it despite that seventy percent of the time it is too hot to wear a coat. Robert feels extremely comfortable wearing a tie but often feels over dressed if he happens to wear one. The only real time that he dresses like he wants to is in the comfort of his shuttle, which he shares with his sister.

“It is not cheesy.” Davis copied the words with a hollow tone in his voice. He knew the line was bad, as all pick-up lines were. Yet still he liked to say it because it was true. No one ever drank a wine that was freshly produced and at the same time no one would ever date a man without a bit of experience under his belt. Not just sexual experience but experience in general, as in the practical knowledge you gained from living in the world. “Is there a better line that you would like me to use? I was trying to give you a compliment but I suppose it came out wrong. How about you look as fresh as a daisy? Or does that not apply to looks? You know I have never actually understood the majority of euphemisms.” The last statement Davis made should have not come as a shock to anyone for he was a straightforward man. Yes euphemisms were great when implying sex but these days Davis rarely had time to date. He knew that he wasn’t the marrying type, in the sense that he had no desire to engage in an activity that did not accept, at his core, who he was. It seemed to be that the purpose of dating, for people his age, was to get married. As if marriage was just this big prize in life. Did he want a relationship? Certainly but he wasn’t willing to just date anyone. There was a high price for having high standards.
“Really? Well that is unfortunate because I hear even the strongest scent of Febreeze, which I am allergic to by the way, won’t get cigar smoke out of any fabric.” Davis didn’t really know why he was just so open to talking about his life but perhaps it was because he felt comfortable. When you felt comfortable with someone little facts about your life just seemed to slip out into everyday parts of conversations. No one needed to know about his Febreeze allergy but it was a small little quirk that just seemed to add to the conversation.
Speeding up in his walk Davis extended his finger as a he saw the quaint little bar just a few yards up ahead. “There. That is where we are going.” The bar was not really out of the way from campus, it was a typical college sort of bar but not with the typical sort of college bar crowd. He picked this place because it was the only English pub he knew in the area. In a way Davis just wanted Ben to feel at home but at the same time he knew the drink selection could satisfy anyone’s pallet. While the bar did specialize in beers from Europe, once you looked at the beer list you could tell that they really specialized in importing from around the globe. “I did not waste a minute of my time.” He retorted with a face frown upon his face. “Plus I said you could only talk about physics for five minutes not that you couldn’t be a physicist. Oh and I change my first answer to blue based on the fact that I wear more blue shirts than green ones. Really I don’t think I even own anything green.”
Jogging forward Davis opened the door smiling as he waited for Ben to shuffle inside. “This place pretty much has any sort of beer that you are looking for. I’ll grab the first round if you find us a table?”
