A quick rest.

Simon walked into the shuttle and almost collapsed on the bed... He hadnt been this tired in months, and the news that Mal was being held hostage was even worse, but he knew that he had to help. Simon pulled out a drawer underneath the larger bed and picked up a pair of Berretta M9F pistols and a pair of thigh holsters to put them in.

"Simon?" Kaylee called as she walked into the shuttle. She saw him by one of the drawers, taking out a pair of pistols. "So, I guess you've heard about tha captain?" She said walking up to him. "Daniel and Haven practically begged me to let them help." She paused. "I told them they could...if they let me go with them." She said it softly, waiting for his reaction.

"You know you havent shot anyone before, dont you?"
he said, but then handed her one of the holsters with the pistol already in it before cliping on his own, he reached down into the drawer again and pulled out a couple of spare magazines, handing one to Kaylee, he put the other in a pouch on the holster.
"Personally, i would prefer it to stay that way, but i dont think either of us will add a hit to our lists today, judging from past experience." he added with a wink.

Kaylee clipped the holster on as Simon handed it to her. She smiled, he would be able to make her smile in a situation like this. "I know you're a mite worried. I think one thing we have the most in common is our shooting record." She said chuckling slightly. "I'm a little worried about you myself. You seem more tired out than usual. Are you sure you're up for this?" Kaylee asked placing a hand in his shoulder and rubbing it lightly. "Besides, if I hadn't agreed to let Daniel and Haven help they would've gone on their own anyway. I think somehow I'm going more for them than I am for the captain." Kaylee said, knowing Simon would understand that she had just as much intention to help Mal, but she wanted to be there to protect her children if need be. "Besides, I think our shooting has to have improved a little in the last 20 years, don't you think?" She smiled. She was glad he would be there. Even though they both had reputations of not liking to shoot anyone, she felt safer with him wanting to go. He was right, she had never been able to shoot at someone before. She almost did when the reavers followed from Miranda, but she missed those. Other than that she just could never bring herself to do it. But now she had children to protect. She couldn't think of how or why, but she knew if she needed to for their sakes, she would be able to bring herself to shoot someone. She knew of all people, Simon would understand that. She was fairly certain that as a father, he most likely felt the same.

"You ready for this?" Simon asked, a look of concern spreading over his face. He hugged Kaylee and kissed her on her forehead, before saying "Lets go." and stepped out of the shuttle hatch into the cargo bay.

Kaylee smiled at her husband's concern. It would be odd if he didn't feel that way. She shook the thoughts from her head and followed Simon out to the cargo bay.
