Today's the Day!

Kaylee slowly made her way into the engine room. She wished she didn't have to leave the shuttle. Just once she'd like to spend an entire day alone with Simon- she'd even settle for a few hours. Not having to worry about fixing something or Simon being called away because Jayne got into another bar fight and needed stitches. She shook the thoughts from her head and laid out some tools on her work bench. She placed a hand on the engine block and smiled. "Got anything for me today?" She listened to the hum of the engine to see if anything needed fixing. There was the usual tinkering that could always help- but she had to make sure nothing else needed to be done. She picked up a wrench and a ratchet and laid them on the floor where she knelt. She crawled under the engine and rolled onto her back and began tinkering.
