Kaylee walked into the engine room silently. She looked around and was glad she had cleaned up earlier. She looked at the pile of small parts on her workbench. At the moment, she wasn't sure what she could do to help Serenity- she wasn't even sure what to do with the spare parts. But she loved that feeling- it always gave her so many possibilities. She thought she'd work on putting those small parts together for a while. At least until Daniel came in. Then at least maybe he could tell her something he may have noticed that needed fixing.
((OOC I know its not much- but I wanted to give you something. I'll try not to do so much OOC-- Its a flaw. lol Stay shiny!))

Daniel stopped outside so he could give himself a moment to compose himself. Daniel stepped inside and rolled his sleeves up. He looked to his mother, "So, mom. is there anything that needs doin'?" He was hoping that everything would be working perfectly so that he wouldn't have to do much work. He was actually finding it very difficult to concentrate on anything other than Bella.

Kaylee smiled when she heard Daniel come in. He seemed a little tense- but she knew he would tell her if he wanted to. Otherwise she figured it was none of her business.
"Not that I can see. Just a minute ago I noticed I noticed the voltage regulator was makin' a fuss. I was just about to get in there when you came in. Other than that- there isn't much that needs to be done." She rummaged through her tools to find the one she needed. She smiled as she held up her needle-nosed pliers. She knew she probably shouldn't go there- but as a curious mother, she had to do it. "So I've noticed you've taken a liking to Bella." She smiled- half expecting Daniel to roll his eyes in embarrassment as she remembered him doing many times when he was younger. "I think she's a sweetheart." She smiled- hoping he would forgive her embarrassment for approval.

Daniel had to have expected his mother to bring Bella up. He gave his mother a sad smile. "Yeah, she's great. We...we..." He didn't know what to say. He couldn't stop thinking about what happened on the bridge between them. "We...had a bit of a fight." He began to tell his mother what had happened on the bridge between the two of them. "I over reacted, didn't I? About her and Alec."

She gave Daniel her motherly smile. He was more like his father than even she cared to admit. She tried to give him advice only knowing the basics. "Sweetheart-even though she was young, from what I understand she really liked this guy. I mean once it all went downhill I'm sure she lost most of her feelings for him but there will always be just the smallest thing there." She took a deep breath in hoping he would understand what she meant. "Before I joined the crew I was with somebody. I found out he was seeing someone else behind my back. It kind of put me in the position I was in when I first met the captain." She smiled to herself slightly. "Just before your father and I got married- I heard from him again. I must admit- I still had feelings for him even those years later. Your father understood that. Naturally he wasn't happy, much like you aren't now, but he came to understand. The guy was my first love- thats why the feelings will always be there to an extent." She looked into Daniel's eyes and smiled widely. "But your father- I would come to notice not too long after that- is my true love. That ain't something you stumble on everyday." She stepped to him placed a hand on his. "This was her first love- there will be something there for a while- but that doesn't mean she can't love you. I can see how much she's pushing those old feelings away trying to let you in. I've been through it and I recognize it." She lightly pulled his head toward her and kissed his forehead and kept smiling in reassurance. "Not to worry. She understands why you're upset like you are- I'm sure." She stepped away from him and bent down to reach under the engine to get to the voltage regulator. She started tinkering around where she could- still looking at Daniel from the corner of her eye.
((OOC: Hey! I'm not sure if this breaks any of the rules- discussing the past and how Bella "might" feel. If not then I think I pushed it. If it needs to be fixed let me know. And if something doesn't make sense- well I just woke up. Love!))

Daniel smiled to his mother. Even though he was all grown up, she still managed to cheer him up. Although he felt better, he was still feeling bad about what had happened. He just sat down in the corner lost in thought. Thoughts of what he should do ran through his mind. "Do you think its too soon to talk to her about it again?"
[OOC-What you wrote is fine. You are allowed to talk about past events and how someone *might* feel.]

Kaylee smiled; knowing Daniel as well as she did, she knew he was feeling better. "Well it's up to you to make that decision. I can't make it for you. I think you should just give her a few minutes to settle in and relax. Before you go to sleep, if she's still awake, go down and talk to her. Otherwise I'd say wait until morning. It's not like either of you are going anywhere." She chuckled to herself. "Maybe then you two can- Ow! Ai-ya!" Kaylee swore as her hand slipped. She quickly pulled it out from under the engine and her eyes widened when she saw the blood. She pulled out a rag from her pocket and quickly wrapped it tightly around her hand to stop the bleeding. She quickly stood up and handed the pliers to Daniel; pain evident on her face. She looked at him in reassurance. "No worries- I'm okay. Can you get on the com and tell you dad I'm on my way down?"

Daniel smiled to his mother, now with an idea on what to do, "Ok mom. I'll do that. Thank you." Daniel was about to get to work when his mother's hand slipped and she started bleeding, "Mom, are you ok?" He knew before he had even finished asking as to what she would say. She always did try to be cheerful, even at the worst of times. As his mother left, he headed straigt to the comm, "Dad, mom's cut herself. She's on her way down." He started to tidy up beofre going to see Bella.
[OOC-It's ok Kaylee. I got the little piece of motherly advice I was looking for.]

Kaylee walked into the engine room and stood by the doorway. "Hey sweetie. Everything is fine." She smiled holding up her hand. "I'm done for the night. I'm going to the shuttle. Would you mind finishing up in here for me?" She smiled and winked. "I'll see you later." She walked abck out and around the corridor toward the shuttle.

Although it was nothing to worry about, he was still relieved to see his mother was ok. "Glad to see your ok. And don't worry mom. I've already started anyway." He finished off tuning the voltage regulator and cleaned up the blood that was left behind. It was actually a little disconcerting. When he finished, quickly checked himself out in the little mirror his mother kept in the engine room. "Ok. Just be yourself. Think before you speak."
