Injured Family.

Simon heard Daniels message over the comms and got out some bandages and antiseptics.

Kaylee walked in- her hand still wrapped in the rag. She knew Simon would have a fit because she wrapped it in a dirty rag- but it was better than bleeding all over the place. She smiled- but she knew Simon could see past it. He could always tell when she was in pain.

"Hey." She walked up beside him. She unwrapped her hand to reveal a cut- no smaller than two inches across her palm. Because of the pressure she had applied- the bleeding slowed, but it was far from stopped. "I was trying to fix the voltage regulator and my hand slipped. I don't even know what I cut it on." She clinched her good hand into a fist. "I can't really tell how deep it is- but it sure does hurt."

"Ok, Il get you something for the pain." he said, but pushed a rolled up bandage onto the cut first and said "Keep that held there tight." and went and took out a small syrette, and injected it into Kayles wrist. "There, that should do for the pain, but lets get you sat down." he said and led her towards the table in the middle of the room.

She took the bandage he held out and applied pressure likehe said. She winced at first when he injected the medicine into her wrist- but it soon relieved her pain. She smiled to herself as he guided her over to the chair. She loved how caring he was. Not only with h er- but wuth everyone. Perks of having a doctor for a husband, she thought as she sat down.

Simon looked at her before saying "Im going to have to take this bandage off now, ok? just keep pressure on the arteeries in your wrist." he said, and took her uninjured hand and placed over the arteries. Peeling back the bandage, he looked down at the cut, and did a half smile "Its not that deep, it shouldnt be a problem." he said, and rushed over to the drawers where he pulled out some scissors, cotton swabs, a small bottle of water and what looked like masking tape. Cleaning the wound with the cotton and water he said, "Im not going to stitch it, but Il put some of this on." he said, indicating the tape. and put the cotton and water aside, and using small thin strips, began to pull the cut shut, mutch like he would have with normal stitches, but just on the surface. when he was done, he put a small bandage over it and taped that in place. Standing up, kissed Kaylee on the forehead and said "There, Give it a chance to heal, and It will be alright."

She watched as Simon worked. She freely let him take her hand as he placed it over the other. He finished his work and stood up. She smiled as he kissed her forehead. She stood and wrapped her arms around his neck, "So I get a kiss too? I must've been a good patient." She winked and kissed him- never ceasing to smile. "So, how long do you have to work?" She said pulling away slightly.

Simon smiled back at Kaylee, but it faded slightly at her question. scratching his head and looking around the infirmary, he said "Ehrm, well, Im not sure. Vincents up and walking, and everyone else seems fine. I just need to clean up here I guess."

Kaylee's smiled faded. Sometimes it took Simon a while to clean up- especially after the day they all had. "Can't you-" she stopped herself and looked down. She suddenly thought of herself as being selfish. The captain had been kidnapped and Vincent had been wounded and all she could think about was being alone with Simon. Granted they hadn't spent much time together lately- but she figured it could wait. She smiled slightly. "I guess I'll go up to the shuttle. Not much use at the moment." She said holding up her hand. "I'll stop in and ask Daniel to finish up for me on my way." She kissed his cheek and left, slowly walking up the steps toward the engine room.

What was left of Simons smile evaporated as soon as Kaylee began to speak, and just stood there for a few moments after she left, before quickly putting everything away and running out of the Infirmary after her.
