New Friends, Job Starting

Jay had just woken up, and decided to walk up to daniel and smack him in the back. Chuckling by his ear he looked at everyone there, and bluntly decided to ask something. "Hey Dan, spent anymore nights with Bella?" Seeing Bettey he smiled. She'd been on yesterday's wave, so obviously he'd seen her. Hadn't met her yet. Holding out his hand Jay waited for Better to take it. "I'm Jay. Usually the pilot here."

"Oh yeah. Thats right." Vincent look to River and gave her a big smile. Everyone was about to know. He looked back to the group, still smiling. "River and I.......we're getting married." He looked round waiting for everyone to respond. He spoke again quietly, "Surprise."

Daniel looked to the ground when Betty mentioned Alec. He remembered the problems caused when he talked about him with Bella. "Oh....ok then." He wasn't looking forward to meeting him. There was something about Alec that didn't feel right to him. When Vincent finished talking, he turned round to him and River. He couldn't believe what he heard. Vincent would finally be officially part of the family. He went over to River and gave her a hug, "Congratulations Aunt River."

River held onto Vincent's hand and smiled, she knew what Mal thought about someone getting married, he didn't know how right he was until just now.

Dave spoke quietly to Mal "Since breakfast, I was grabbing some sleep." putting a slight emphasis on 'was'. He turned to Vincent and River and said "Wow, Congratulations."

Mal’s face went stony. It changed form red to white repeatedly. Jay and Daniel were both dead. Grabbing Jay’s neck, he pulled the kid close. He didn’t squeeze, just enough to have him by him. Then he looked between the two boys. “Ok what is going on here?”

Then Vincent spoke. His head spun. Way too many things at once. “Ok whoa what? You two are getting married? Didn’t you just start dating?” Mal had to deal with one crisis at a time and this was not helping. The albatross couldn’t get married. She just couldn’t/

Betty’s mouth dropped. What had Bella been doing this whole time? “What is this nonsense?” Bella may be full grown, but she would always be a little girl. This was ridiculous, already spending nights with a boy. They had just met and started going out. “We are going to talk.”

Bella closed her eyes. She didn’t like being forced something. Like the fancy hair. “I am wearing loose curls. Just a headband. I’ll go jeweled if it’ll make her happy.” Bella didn’t like there. She was glad it was her last though. She hated feeling like a glittering mermaid. Stepping towards River and Vincent, she smiled. “Oh I’m thrilled! Congratulations.” Bella would be having some extra money that she would not need. She could help pay for some of the wedding stuff. And depending on the dress, River would look beautiful in a veil and tiara she had. She smiled. She liked to have people to share these things with. She hated using her money on herself-preferring to use it on other people.

Turning pale, she sent jay a furious look. This was not the conversation needed to be had. The smile faded, and she bounced from foot to foot nervously. “Nothing happened. We fell asleep talking.” SHe had also been teaching Daniel how to dance. But she didn’t know if Daniel wanted them to know. Their practices were later each night due to him having to know how to dance for the ball. He was much better.

"Thanks everyone. It means a lot to us." He turned towards Mal, "Now Mal, calm it down a bit mate. River and I have talked about this, and its what we both really want. Actually, when the time comes, we...want you to do to be the one that marries us." If Mal reacted this bad, he can only imagine what Simon was going to say. Unless he could get hold of his crew, he would have to ask Simon to be his best man. Daniel and Jay were so much younger than him, it would seem weird to ask them to do it. And there was no way he was gonna ask Jayne to do it.

Daniel glared at Jay when he finally realised what he just said. "Jay you git." He shot looks of panic at everyone in the cargo bay. "Now wait a minute. Yeah, what Bella said, nothing happened. We just talked." He began to blush and looked down at the floor embarissed. "And...she...she was...she was tea...she was teaching me to....um....dance."

River smiled at her nephew, he was trying to learn how to dance. Knowing how his genes worked he probably inherited his fathers abilities when it came to dancing. She kept a hold of Vincent's hand and sent her thoughts out to her friend, she hadn't told anyone about her yet but she would eventually.

"Mal the situation between Vincent and I has been quite analyzed by both of us, it is what I want and what he wants" said River "I assure that this is quite the right course for both Vincent and I to take"

River knew Mal was going into overload mode, he was going to be even worse when Solstice came aboard without his knowledge but it was the only way to get her there.

Mal let his hands raise and fall, trying to restore order in his own mind. “Ok, ok. This is too much at once.” He made to walk out the door, but then turned smiling. He actually chuckled, looking at Bella and pointing at Daniel. “You were teaching him to dance? Wow this just gets better and better.” He was in maxed out hyper drive. He had no clue what to do.

Going he walked up the catwalk and leaned upon it, trying to cool before he blew it. He was trying to be a better man. For his daughter and all the kids.

Betty was still furious, but softened. The boy did need to know how to dance for the ball. It was expected if they were to be married. They’d have to dance. “If anything went on...” She was threatening in this manner. She would hate for Bella to throw her life away.

Turning to River and Vincent, she smiled. “When’s the wedding?” She loved weddings and babies. She never had her own kids, so Bella was the closest thing. She loved them still though.

Bella’s mouth dropped little. She didn’t expect him to tell anything. But she was tired and wanted this day to end. Stuffing the paper away, she walked out the cargo bay door. She’d talk to River later. She needed air. Lots of air. Daniel still hadn’t said if he was going today or not.

"Its true Mal. Funny thing is I've actually analysed it more than she has." It was completely untrue, but he just wanted to express the seriousness of the situation. Obviously he could tell them the real reason for the sudden urge to get married, but it would be better to wait until they were married before telling them the she was pregnant. "We haven't set an exact date but we do want to have it on Haven, ASAP."

Daniel just looked away when Mal made fun of him. He turned to Bella and saw how surprised she was, "Well...they were bound to find out eventually." He had a look of panic at Betty, "Nothing happened, Absolutely nothing." When Bella left, he found his way out of the situation. He followed her with due haste."

"They didn't do anything, Betty, I can assure you of that" said River

She was holding on to Vincent. She leaned closer to him.

"Someone's coming" said River quietly to Vincent "A friend of mine"

Mal was just a bit shocked. He watched the two leave, closing his eyes and rubbing them. “Too much for one night.” Listening to Vincent, his heart lurched.

On Haven.

So many memories of Shepard were there. This would be interesting having a wedding there. “How do you plan on paying? Weddings cost money you know little one.”
