Waiting

[river]

River laid on the cat walk waiting for Vincent to come back with Mal. She wanted to see Vincent and Mal and make sure that they were both okay. Mal had taken on the roll as River's captain and kind of a father figure to her. He was protective and sweet to her and got flustered if she'd cry, of course he was kind of that way with everyone. He didn't show much emotion himself but it was there River knew it. She knew that no one would see or hear her until she let them and that was a thing she used to her advantage quite a bit.

Simon

Simon came through the Cargo bay from the Bridge, and saw River lying on the catwalk, "River, Ive been looking for you. How did Vince know where Mal was? Did you tell him?" He asked, but then decided to get onto more important issues, like getting her buckled into a seat "Come on river, lets get you to a seat, They should be back soon with Mal, and then We'll be leaving rather quickly." he said as he tried to help her to her feet.

Mal walked back onto his ship. It wa shis home. Listning, it hadn't started. Going to the comm, he pressed it. "Jay, Dnaiel, why isn't this boat ready to fly?" He wanted to leave this rock fast. Turning, his nostrils falred some.

Looking between Simon and River, he paused on River. "Who did you hire little albatross?"

Jayne followed Mal, setting oen gun aside, but keeping the other ready. The ship wasn'y started, so they'd have to be on the lookout. He went over to Simon. "So, the boy and this new cook started sneaking around yet?"

[Dave Cassidy]

Dave walked into the cargohold shortly after Mal and Jayne. He drew his pistol and dropped the mag out into his other hand, before racking the slide to let the empty cartridge fly out. he had locked the slide before shooting the man, he didnt want to leave the brass behind. putting his pistol back in its holster, he placed the mag in a puch, and did the same with his rifle, unloading the mag and pulling back the bolt, letting the round fly out, he picked it up, it was one of his special ones, and he siply put it back in the mag. Turning around, he sat down cross legged on the floor and began to strip and clean both his rifle and pistol.

"He would be one of them." Simon said, indicating Dave as he sat down, before saying "Glad to have you back, Captain, noticing that the ship hadnt started he said "Im going to go to the bridge and make sure Daniel and Jay are ok." he headed off to the bridge

A little bit of a smirk crossed the young girls face. "A firefly class. Interesting. I've always been quite taken with it's kind." She stated as she entered the Cargo Bay. Now it clicked, of course she liked fireflies...she was her father's daughter after all. No amount of Alliance brainwashing, training garbage, could take that out of her. It was in her genes. Serenity...after Serenity Valley, Alliance trained her and the others telling them all about the wars.

Upon entering the ship, Vincent had near returned to his normal self. Shouting as loud as he could, he jokingly made an announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen, the captain has returned." With certainty that Alora wouldn't try nothing, Vincent made his way over to his bike and began to put his weapons away.

James slowly entered the cargo bay, he felt out of place. He quickly took out Dave's gun, and spoke, only loud enough to be heard. "Dave, your gun..." and he threw it to him. James just kind of sat back, and waited for everyone else to get there talking done. He was out of place, and he didn't want to impede. He was gonna ask Mal if he could stay aboard, at least till he could either find a new ship, or his old ship.

Dave caught the pistol James threw to him, but merely looked it over and passed it back. "Its allright, keep it. god knows I dont need another." he said looking down at the pieces of his Rifle that he was cleaning with a tiny piece of cloth, before pulling a long piece of string with a wire brush through the barrel, and oiling all the moving parts.

Gene stepped on to the ship. He decided to hang back, away from the main group. Everyone else seemed to have been invited onto the ship at some point, except for him. He just seemed to get caught up in it. Plus, it wasn't as though he really had anywhere else to go.

Mal looked. "Did Kaylee come back?" Someone would have to go for Kaylee. If she wasn't here in less then five minutes, hima dn Jayne would. Turning to each of the three new comers, he pointed to James, Dave and then Gene. "I want this young lady put somewhere until i can talk to her.

"Each of your names. I don't want no passengers without their names and backgound. We have jsut enough room for you all. Someone may have to bunk up if there isn't." he wouldn't tell any of these three what he did just yet. "I need to talk to this cook after. Tell her what's up and how we run. Alone."

he looked back at River. "I also need you to tell me wha tyou know. We'll talk alone before I go see her little one. I may have to put her in Kaylee's old room to make room for everyone."

Jayne looked a tMal. He had his hands full. Waiting for Kaylee would be tough. but putting Bella in her old room would have been the smart part. "I'll go tell her to get her thigns together and move. I think she's already settled in there."

Bella walked into the cargo bay. Going down the cat walk, she set her bag on the ground. She saw a man-the captain. He was looking out the open hatch. Clearing her throat, she waited for him. "I'm Bella. The cook River hired."

She smiled, glad to see River here. It made her more confident. Nodding ot River, her smile faded. "Jayne scared me again."

James nodded to Mal, "alright..." then slowly walked over to Alora. "Come on, lets go to..." James paused, he had to think about it for a minute, "um... lets see, firefly's...." James stopped completely, "oh yeah, the common room will be fine..." He walked past her and started to head toward the common room. He didn't feel the need to push her or grab her, he, for some reason thought he could trust her, she didn't seem the type to stab a man when he wasn't lookin. He turned to look at Dave, and Gene, "You two coming?"

Mal heard a distant scream and shook his head. "Jayne!" he shouted. Then he looked at the guy. "Not you. Vincent. I know Vincent. I don't know you." Turning, he put his hands on his newly reapplied holster. He looked the girl up and down. She was young-really young. "I thought I got a good cook here. Not someone young."

Jayne came down before Bella. Going past her, he went ot Mal. "Whatcha yelling for? i only woke her." Jayne leaned agaisnt the wall. He had done nothign wrong. Lookign at the girl, he shrugged. "She's got problems."

Bella got a little angry. She didn't like how she was being treated. "First off, I have been cookign since I was thirteen. I had a professional teach me everything I know." She turned to Jayne. He reminded her of one of the guys who raped her. SHe tought it should be said too. "Second off, big guns, I was raped. I don't like guys jsut barging in on me."

She looked back at River, tears filling her eyes. She didn't want to tell them all liek this, but she had to. Plus, she was mad and it just came out. Fuming, she sat on her bag and blinked her tears back.

Haven was just behind Bella. But Bella didn't seem to know. Sitting on the cat walk, she listened to the girl. She took pity on her. That's why she always flinches.

Walking down slowly, she looked at Vincent. "The bullet needs out soon." Then she went and hugged Bella. It was impulse. "Jayne is scary the first few years. But then he won't." She then admired her brother. To bring her out enough she actually kissed someone? It was amazing.

Pulling back, she punched Jayne in the arm playfully. "Don't be mean waking people. Especially new staff!" Running, she hugegd Mal. She was glad he was back. "We missed you."

Gene made his way over to Mal when he made a reference to him. "Well, if you insist. Name's Gene Richardson. I worked at the sherrif's office here on Ezra till we had a 'disagreement'. I'm NOT Alliance if thats what your wondering. I ain't no Browncoat either." Gene heard the scream and when Bella told them she had been raped, something just burned up inside him. He may not show respect to people but he there was a limit to how far he would go. It took every fiber in his body to stop him from punching Jayne for setting this thing off. He tried to block it out and followed James to the common room.
