Mikael had some packages to pick up from the Core so Esmerelda couldn’t really avoid going out. He needed a bit of privacy as people dropped off what they needed delivered. After finding a wig and some colored contacts she had picked up on Dardania, she felt comfortable venturing out. There were parts about her she really couldn’t hide but the wig and contacts were completely different then her normal colors so as long as she could do her shopping then she felt fine. There were things Mikael had asked her to pick up as well as things she herself needed. She really didn’t want to be out planetside but she couldn’t avoid that. As her friend went about delivering things people asked him to, she’d have to be able to leave TwoStep and be comfortable about that.
Walking about the makeshift market, many sounds and smells mixed together. At first she stood out with the pure white of her dress but quickly the dust kicked up toned it down some. Most of her clothing was higher end so it was hard to go by completely unnoticed. And right now she didn’t have money to just go through and buy some that were locally made by people on each planet. The money she did have was going to spent for things that were absolutely needed. Before Edwin’s family had descended on the home with the cops, she had grabbed the money that was in their safe as well as some jewelry to help pay her way through the verse. Now that she had a semi-permanent place to stay she didn’t have to pay it for ship fares. And who knows if other captains would be nice enough not to turn Esemerelda into the feds or not. At lest Mikael knew what a promise meant and to be loyal to someone. It was also why she was giving him some privacy because she was loyal to what he needed to do for his job.
After taking care of the things she needed, Esmerelda moved onto the list that Mikael had given her. There were things he needed as well as stocking up on some food. If there was one thing she knew and could do to pay him back was cook for him. Plus help him out when he was keeping up with random repairs on the ship. She didn’t know that much about the mechanics of a ship so all she could do was what Mikael told her to do. Hold something up while he looked underneath it, grab his tools for him and make sure gunk didn’t build up on any wires. She was learning and at least Esmerelda could feel good about that. Even if other things in her life made her feel a little less then good about herself.
