Kelly walked into the kitchen if anyone wanted to call it that, no one else was here, good just the way he liked it, wearing a white tank and dark brown cargo pants with the regular combat boots, Kelly wasn't much for dressing up, he had the clothes on his back that was all he needed. Walking over to the cupboards opening the closet one. He looked up onto it's shelves seeing a few cans, he reached for not one in particular. Setting it on the counter he searched the sink for a fork, before rummaging through the drawers for a can opener.
Finding one he popped open the lid, it looked like chicken. Bringing it to his nose he inhaled, smelled like chicken, but as his blue eyes scanned the labeling it was clearly an Asian product. Kelly had been on this ship for about two months now, mostly keeping to himself in, smoking and drinking, again by himself, the way he liked it. He hated how the ship was full of young punk kids that didn't know a Reaver from a preacher. Making his way over to a "microwave" like appliance he placed the can inside.
Kelly waited for the container to heat up before he brought it to the table with the fork he had found in the sink and sat down, stabbing a piece of the cubed "chicken" from the can he placed it in his mouth, chewing slowly. Swallowing it not really tasting anything. He could have used a stiff drink right now, clearing his throat he took another piece before making a face of distaste. Pushing his chair back he walked over to the fridge, opening it he took one of the many alcoholic bottles the captain had provided for them and quickly cracked it open. Spitting out the chicken piece onto the floor he wrinkled his nose before taking a long sip.
Turning Kelly walked back to the table throwing the bottle cap aside onto the floor as well, he didn't care really, didn't care for much. Sitting back down he ran a hand through his closely cut hair, before his ears picked up movement at the entrance archway. He looked up as he took another drink.

L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Owen was having an odd day. Well, more of an odd week. After the job him and Toni had slept together so now things between them were weird. He didn’t want a relationship but, apparently, she had thought about it. So there was an uncomfortable silence between them a lot while other times they just avoided one another. Now that he was thinking of taking up Alora’s old job, he wanted things to get fixed. They would be stopping for fuel soon and maybe then he’d wave his mom. He knew she wanted him to visit so if he could convince Sebastian to swing by, they could all get a home made meal and feel out jobs. Plus Owen could get some advice to fix his friendship though the only thing that might is a real relationship. Something that he wasn’t ready for. Or so he tried to tell himself. Owen was just too much of an idiot to think about a relationship. He thought out here there wasn’t too much need for them so didn’t really dwell on settling down. It’s not that he had a bad example-his parent’s had always been very much in love. It was just he didn’t think much about it.
Walking around the ship, he felt his stomach grumble. When had he last ate? Owen wasn’t even sure. He usually only ate when he felt that hungry feeling he now had. Unless Toni made him eat which that wasn’t happening right now. He figured he had to make something himself. As he rubbed at his head, his sweater fell over his hands slightly. Many men usually ran a bit hot but Owen ran on the colder side. A sweater was his main clothing choice up on the ship. Unless he was doing a lot around the ship. Which right now he wasn’t doing that much. When they stopped to fuel up more supplies would be gotten then he would be able to help out a bit. That and if Sebastian let him have a permanent spot around here. Then he’d be a part of the workings around here some more.
As he rounded the corner to the galley, Owen noticed one of the newest members aside from Jim. Kelly Noyce. The man was a smuggler so he had a lot of connections when it came to jobs. Sending a nod the man’s way, Owen gripped at the cupboards. There was plenty of canned goods but they wouldn’t fill him. Feux carbs would. His hands gripped a package of noodles and dropped them in a bowl with some water and seasonings. Popping in the warmer, he rubbed at his eyes. Owen still wasn’t sleeping well and the dark circles pointed that out. Maybe after getting more things from his childhood home would help as he’d have familiar things around his bunk. When his eyes opened back up, he glanced over at Kelly. ”Suddenly lose you’re hunger?” He nodded at the can of barely eaten canned chicken.

Kelly did not bother to nod back when Owen entered the room, a young wandered kid, the kind Kelly didn't take kindly too. He hated young kids thinking they knew how the Verse worked. He simply shifted in his chair, watching as Owen searched around for food. Nothing but cans was what Kelly had seen ,but he raised an eyebrow when Owen pulled out a pack of noodles. He nodded once when Owen spoke, Kelly's blue eyes shifting to the open can of chicken "nothing but garbage on this boat" he said is his usual raspy toned voice.
He pushed the can away with the glass bottle of beer before taking another swig. Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand he kept his eyes on Owen. "Can't sleep I take it?| he asked, he really didn't care, but it was awkward having so much silence in the room. He took notice of the bags under the younger man's eyes, and the way he rubbed them. Ya this kid was going to pass out standing up any minute now.

Jim yawned and scratch his stomach as he headed towards the kitchen, after trying to sleep for several hours Jim found he couldn't too unused to the bed he was in he guessed. That was until his stomach started to growl and Jim realised he was probably just hungry. Jim rubbed his eye's as he entered the Kitchen not noticing the others until he heard the voices.
Jim's face went hard instantly as he recognised the voice. It was Kelly a man who Jim despised. The man was everything Jim dislikes rude, arrogant disrespectful and no sense of honor. Jim wouldn't be surprised if the man had a few warrants for murder on his head. Jim made a mental note to search for that on the net later.
Jim took a deep breath before entering the room. Maintaining a cold face he nodded coldly to Kelly before he noticed Owen in the room, he looked like he was ready to drop dead then and there. Jim frowned with concern. Owen had helped Jim out in a tricky situation and had taken care of him since he came aboard (even if he did it in a rather annoying way). The least Jim could do was do the same for him.
"You ok Owen? You look dead on your feet"

L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Owen was never one to waste food, be it awful or something fairly good. But whenever he opened one of these packages or a can, he missed real food. Like the meat that his family made from animals they raised. Or fresh produce that his mother grew with gentle hands. Maybe if they visited they could get some good food from her. She had promised it in the wave he sent after the job. Toni had been right about his mother not being too happy he had been injured. Why Toni was even talking to her was beyond him to begin with.
After finding some chopsticks, he pointed them in Kelly’s direction. ”Never eat that mi tian gohn without something else like rice or noodles. It might make you hug the steel throne.” Owen wasn’t entirely sure about Kelly. The guy was definitely the odd ball in a sense. He was the oldest around here and was always in a foul mood it seemed. He didn’t reveal much about himself. Even if none of them had deep heart to hearts, at least tidbits came out during dinner or over drinks. Kelly was completely locked down. And his newly formed friend, Jim, didn’t like the guy. Whenever the men were in the same room, Owen noticed the looks Jim gave Kelly. Owen tried to keep the peace with everyone on board as it was much safer.
What was this? Attack on Owen day? It was no secret he had his troubles sleeping and only booze or a helping pull was what he needed to pass out. Owen still wasn’t even sure what was the cause of his insomnia. He used to be able to sleep like a baby but over the last couple months it hadn’t come very easily to him. When the timer went off he went to it to grab his food out of there. Leaning against the counter he reached for the chopsticks to pull the noodles to his lips. ”I am functioning, not entirely dead Jimmy-o. At least I’ll be able to kick your Pai-Goo at cards.” Owen couldn’t have a proper fight with Jim as the guy was a whiz at martial arts. Owen would probably ask him for some pointers in case his weapon ever left his hand. Right now he was just trying to make sure Sebastian liked Jimmy and would keep the guy around. He didn’t really have anywhere else to go as home wasn’t an option from what he understood. ”Seems like we’re having a party around here. All that’s missing is some girls but, well, us men outnumber the broads around here.” There were five guys and two girls but even Owen wouldn’t mess with either girl. Toni could kick his ass and Haven was just scary. She had all the drugs which could be highly lethal if someone ticked her off. And while she had a bubbly personality, he saw her working out in the cargo bay and cleaning her gun. She was definitely scary for a small girl.

Jim was reminded of his own mothers cooking at the mention of food. At home Jim was always well fed here he had to make do with canned foods that if he was lucky had no taste at all. Jim made the mistake of eating something a few days ago without looking at the label and hadn’t felt right for days. It had made Jim cautious of anything judged as ‘food’ on this boat ever since. Jim quietly hoped Kelly would get sick off of the food. Outwardly all the talk and thinking of food made him thinking of his mothers roast pig making him all the more hungrier. Unfortunately his mother wasn’t around so short of that he supposed he’d have to make deal with whatever was in the cans. “So what won’t make you sick in here?” Jim asked emphasizing the won’t.
Jim raised his eyebrows at Owens mock threat and leant against the wall too his right arms crossed. “In which case, I’ll just kick your Pai-Goo straight up”. Jim said with a slight smirk, knowing that Owen would normally have left out the ‘at cards’ bit on the end. Jim was just joking around of course, but he was pretty comfortable in the knowledge that he could easily take Owen any day of the week. Not that Jim would ever seriously hurt Owen, Jim new that Owen was the only reason Sebastian had taken him on board not too mention the tricky situation Owen had helped Jim out of back on Dardania. Jim snorted at Owen’s idea of a party “Yeah good luck with getting them to agree with a party with you” Jim knew that both girls would never go for one of Owen's 'parties' and both could take care of themselves so he doubted Owen would get very far anyway. “What are you trying to set a record for the number of people to kick your ass in one day?”
Jim went over to the kitchen and started searching for some food holding them up for Owens dismissal or approval. Although half way through he realised that Owen wouldn’t be passed giving Jim something that’ll make him sick, so Jim decided against eating anything from the cupboard. picking up a deck of cards and went over to the table where Owen was eating. “Tell you what if you were serious about the game of cards, I’ll play you for those noodles” Jim fiured that Owen wouldn’t purposely make himself sick so it was safer than anything from the cupboard.

L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Owen couldn't help but groan. He knew Kelly wasn't the biggest people person but he was a member of this crew. That meant one had to try and tolerate each other. He wasn't the biggest fan of Haven-all jumpity and acting like she was something special because she was the medic. But Owen kept his comments minimal so everyone could attempt to work together as a team. Some bickering would happen and was normal, but the arguments with Jim and Kelly got to be a pain. He himself tried his best to break them up but his own problems kept him from caring much more this moment. Owen had to figure out fixing things with Toni so they could get back to them. Whatever 'them' was. He saw it as being really close friends and not letting even a drunken night stop that. Maybe it was easier for Owen since he hardly had romantic attachments. It had always been easy for him to move past a random romp and be friends. But Owen was dense about woman and that it wasn't that easy to do for them.
Owen took a bite of his cool noodles and slurped them. Pulling his brows together he scoffed at Jim. Owen was the resident champ when it came to cards. Of course there hadn't been that many people until lately either. "HA! I'd like to see that. Last I remember you're the one for getting your pai-goo kicked." It wasn't entirely a secret from the main crew how Jim had come to the ship. What others knew outside of him, Jim, Sebastian and Dave were told was up to Jim himself. Owen wouldn't go around blabbing either though he liked to tease that he would. Usually it was followed by a completely unbelieveable fact just to keep everyone on their toes. While most people hated Owen for doing it he personally found it to be great fun. With one hand thrown across his chest, Owen pretended to be hurt. "Ok I could get Toni to come. You know, once she's done being mad. And you can charm little miss medic. Then one of them will drag Addie out of the bridge. We could make it work." Owen was normally a loner around here except for Toni and Jim so h really knowing people was impossible.
Apparently Jim thought he was hot shit tonight. Where was this coming from with his mate? Apparently sarcasm was his best friend for the evening. "At least the last person kicking my ass was attractive. I guess if you get me drunk enough it could be kind of kinky too." Owen pursed his lips and did an air kiss in the direction of Jim. Sometimes Owen couldn't help himself either. The only way to get along was to keep up the pace of other's around him. And Jim's pace was betting on food. Owen groaned as he had been ready to take another bite of food. But his ego got the best of him. Setting the bowl off to the side but near the center, he reassumed a sitting position. He tapped at the table. "You are messing with the wrong man. My pops taught me to play so I play like a master." Owen scratched at his head as the cards were dealt. A glance over at Kelly showed him he seemed oblivious. "So ya contacted family to tell them you're traveling about with buddies instead of morons?" Owen knew that Jim had suddenly up and left home but he had never pressed into why. Didn't seem important. If Jim shared then Owen would probably listen. But being the men they were it wasn't always that easy. It had always been easier to just keep their baggage to themselves then let others hear it. Some people didn't take too well to hearing other's dirty laundry so Owen didn't air his all that often. Nor did he press others to either.

Jim realised that Owen was getting a little sick of the bickering between himself and Kelly so decided to drop it for now so long as Kelly didn’t try to start something he would keep his thoughts (and his fists) too himself. Still Jim could tell that Kelly and him weren’t the only thins on his mind, Jim wasn’t sure, but he suspected there was something going on between Owen and Toni. Jim gave a mental shrug it wasn’t any of his business and unless Owen decided to make it otherwise and tell him Jim was hay to let it stay that way. He had enough drama in his own life with his family and all. At times Jim didn’t know if he’d ever forgive his older brother, but he supposed in his calmer more thoughtful moments he would have to eventually. Family wasn’t something that could be cut loose easily.
Jim raised his own eyebrows at Owens scoff. growing up on a farm there wasn’t much to do except lay cards and although he wasn’t the best in his family usually sending too much time working to save money or practice his fighting skills. Still he wasn’t a complete slop at it and he reckoned he could give Owen a run for his money. Jim’s eye’s darted towards Kelly as Owen talked about the incident on Dardania, it was exactly the ammo Kelly would need next time they got into it. Jim decided to bluff his way through it with his own scoff. “You sure their’s nothing wrong with those noodles?” Jim asked nodding his head towards the bowl in question “I think they’re beginning to mess with your memory. Jim knew of Owens habit of saying suggestive things then going on with something completely whack and like most of the rest of the crew wasn’t a fan particularly when it was about him. As far as Jim was concerned the crew didn’t need to know about the unfortunate incident thinking it would make them loose their faith in him if they did. Jim pursed his lips and widened his eye’s at Owen to tell him too shut u about it, although a art of him knew it might only encourage him.
Jim grinned when Owen described how he was going to get the ‘party’ started. Jim picked up on the Toni being mad part, rolled his eye’s at the idea of ‘charming’ Haven then widened his grin at one of them dragging Adalira out of her bunk. “Sounds to me like you’re looking to set the angry harpies on the both of us” Jim said grin still evident “Just don’t drag me down with you”. Jim snorted with a shake of his head at Owen’s mocking flirt. “Well don’t worry about telling the others, I’m pretty sure we’ve all guessed it at some point or another.” Jim started with a small smirk. Jim laughed outright at Owens groan as far as he could see that was a good sign. Making his way over to the table he began to deal the cards out in front of him. “I wouldn’t be so sure” Jim said with a flick of his head to the side “I’m not a complete amateur myself.”
Jim stiffened a little at Owens question. It wasn’t that he took offense at it or anything, it was just a sensitive issue for him one that he wasn’t quite willing to share just yet particularly in front of Kelly. How do you bring that up anyway. Oh yeah by the way guys, I caught my brother sleeping with my girlfriend. Jim snorted not likely. Jim had in fact sent a wave telling them he was alright without giving too much away as too where exactly it was. A man needs his space.Still he knew that an answer could open u the subject too conversation which jim really wanted to avoid just then .Then Jim grinned as he saw his opening. “Well, I would, but they don’t get much more moronic than you.”

L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Owen scoffed lightly as Jim tried calling him out some more. ”There’s nothing wrong cause I made them. And I’m totally awesome so they’re awesome.” He had a slight cockiness about him at times which very few people could deal with. It’s not that he actually thought he was better then anyone but he liked to puff his own ego. It was a problem, probably part of the reason he would hit ‘em and leave ‘em. He disliked any moment of emotions other then something fun or light. Another reason why the problems with Toni were even harder on him. Owen just wanted to move past the unpleasentries. He had seen enough of it when his father had nightmares or would talk of the war and then with his passing. The universe was full of such bad and unless he had to be a part of it, Owen saw no reason to have any other emotion then that of happiness.
As he settled in the chair, the quick glance from Jim didn’t go unnoticed. Owen rolled his eyes with a half shrug. It was like no one ever got their ass handed to them anymore. He understood it was a pride thing but even Owen had gotten more then one beat down. Especially when he was out on his own. Eventually he learned to fight back which surprised him about the situation on Dardania. Jim could whoop anyone if he wished. He still didn’t fully understand what had happened that day to where Jim just couldn’t do it. But he didn’t press his new found friend about it. That just wasn’t something one guy did to another. They weren’t chicks who could dish out every secret and the event of their days. He just dropped it for the time being least he say something else completely wrong. Right now he was focused on winning back his noodles and satiating the grumbling in his stomach. Wasn’t it just easier if the other man made his own food for once?
Owen flung his hand outawrds to wave off Jim’s notion about upsetting the girls. ”We’ll just promise them booze. I know it’ll work on that medic chick. You can figure out how to bribe the other two.” Normally drawing out Toni would be easy for him but not so much at this point. Still a crew night where everyone just hung out and had a merry time was something that was always looked forward to. They just had to stop and stock up on more goods. His own stock was seriously beginning to deplete and he needed some more of his own snacks. Owen kept a stash of goods just for himself that never ventured out to the main areas. Except when he felt like getting more then just himself a little wasted. ”You won’t get chewed out so badly. They’re harmless. Or Sebastian will make them harmless.”
As the cards were tossed his way, Owen tried to catch them as they slide across the wood. He mostly did alright but a few slipped by. Hopefully the game went quick before the food went cold. ”You don’t learn til you’ve learned froma soldier.” His father was the one who could bluff with such discretion that no one even knew it was one. He taught Owen how to keep his tell discreet so no one could rob him blind. Or, better yet, how to use his tell to his advantage and make it his bluff. All little strategies. He didn’t doubt Jim’s skills but he was confident his were better. As he fanned out his cards, he glanced up at Jim. ”They’d have to be to put up with your scrawny behind. Anyone with half a brain would avoid ya like the plague.”
