Overall personality;; Scamandros is very lazy, and more importantly, can be very unmotivated. He has convinced himself that he doesn't have a particularly high intellect, but he has shown a surprising amount of intelligence when needed, and has also shown some philosophical traits. He prides himself on being a good man possessing moral courage, which dictates the repayment of debts and chivalry towards women. He enjoys "bumming around", drinking large amounts of lager, and eating Indian food.

[/b] An orphan, John's parents were both killed during the Unification War. His father was a Master Sergeant in the Independents, and died in combat during the Siege of Du-Khang when John was only twelve. Some three years later his mother was killed during an Alliance raid. Not long after his mothers death, and while still technically a minor, Alliance representatives seized his parents property and assets as part of their reparations program. They placed John in an orphanage where he would spend the remainder of his youth.

Upon reaching the age of eighteen, Scamandros left the Orphanage with nothing but the clothes on his back and the wallet of the Orphanage's manager that his bunkmate had pick pocketed as a good-bye present. Using the cash in the wallet John managed to get himself on a birth to Higgins Moon where he worked as a Mudder for two years before hitching a ride off world and into the stars. Working hard for the next nine or so years he managed to scrimp and save and now has enough to do whatever it is that takes his fancy in the near future.

He is more then happy to go wherever the winds of fate take him.
