Running Around Her Mind

[Arabella Hart]

Bella had no clue if River knew what she was up to. If the crew really had no job, she would have one for them. One with lots of money that would require breaking into her grandmothers.

Sitting down, she grabbed a piece of blank paper on the table and began to scribble out a drawing. one of her old room set up. It was sad that his had left, but in many ways, good. A very good one.

She hoped that if River knew, she would tell no one. She wanted to tell Mal herself. Hopefully he would take up this job. She knew that Mal knew nothing about her, nut she could guarantee him $3000. And maybe a way to help River.

Her mind wandered to Daniel. She needed him to make sure her grandmother would be appalled with her. She would say they were married. Yes, that would work. Betty could help them buy rings and everything. Maybe Bella could save them for someday when she did get married. A thought of her in white and walking toward Daniel flashed, but she pushed it out.

Biting her lip, she drew some more detail. Alec and Betty were In there. She hadn't told anyone about Alec and would make sure Betty didn't say anything about the marriage idea. She didn't need him blabbing. She just wanted some of her stuff. Even if she had to find a storage place until she found a perminate place, she would do that. Bella needed this.

Looking around, Bella felt alone. She wanted the solitude, but wanted company. She hoped everyone would come soon. She wanted to finish dinner and meet Mal. Eventually, she sketched in a picture of Daniel.

These feelings were new to her and she didn't know what to do. She adjsuted herself so her feet were pulled up. She began to shade everythign in, wanting to make the drawing a bit better, though she was no artist.

Bella was snapped out a moment. She heared and saw Haven close the infirmary door across the way. It was angry and hrut. "What...?"

Daniel finally found Bella in the common room. Daniel was still feeling a little upset be what had happened, and having Haven next door in the infirmary probably didn't help much. "Hi, you doin' ok?" Daniel noticed the pad she was writting on, "What you writtin' there?" Daniel wanted to wait before going over to her incase what she was writting was private.

Belal looked up, still thinking, but her eyes smiling. Nodding, she went. "Yeah I'm fine. Haven ok?" Haven looked huffy. Looking through the window, Haven seemed to be sitting in thought as well.

Setting the pad on her lap, she blushed a little. She had just been sketching. "It's my room back home. Just sketching people around the edges." There was Betty, Alec, Daniel, Haven, and some staff from ehr grandmother's house. She's put Mal, but hse had no clue what he looked like.

Daniel looked over to the infirmary and saw his sister in there. It pained him to see her like this, and it pained him even more in knowing that it was his fault. He went and sat down next to Bella, "Haven and I...um...we had a...bit of a spat. I...said some things I didn't really mean, and now she's mad at me. I can't blame her really." He looked down at the drawing, "That's quite good actually." He noticed a little drawing that seemed to resemble him. He gave a slight chuckle to himself, "I suppose thats meant to be me. You draw often?"

"Your lucky you have a sister. Though you fight, you sometimes need something like this to appreciate them." Bella always felt like she was the responsible one for Tim's death. She always would. But that would be locked inside her. No one knew that part.

Nodding, she smiled at him, letting her hair down. She was done cooking, so she usually let it down. "Yeah it is." Pointing around, she started with Haven, who was below him. "Theres Haven, then your mom and dad, Jacob-a butler, Caleb-a stable hand, Janice and Karen-maids, Alec," she paused here, not knowing what to say. "He's anotehr stablehand and my ex." Pushing that aside, she moved ot the last and largest one. "That's Betty."

"I suppose you're right, it doesn't make it feel any better though." Daniel tried to push it out of his mind, he felt he should focus on one thing at a time. All Haven wanted him to do was talk to Bella, now that he was doing so, he hoped it would be a start in getting back on her good side. He smiled at the drawings of his family, but his expression suddenly changed whem she mentioned Alec. Daniel didn't know what to say, it probably wasn't a good thing that she was still drawing picures of ex's, "Oh, um, d-do you..." Daniel was about to ask about Alec directly but he was a little afraid of what the answer might be, "...still keep in touch with anyone?"

Bella shook her head and then nodded. "Just Betty. Sometimes Jacob too." She looked at Daniel some more. She saw some worry. Was it about Alec? "Me and Alec are just friends. We were better that way." In Bella's mind, they would always be best friends. Not like they used to, but just friends. She even rarely thought of him back when they were together. It was the past. "The past is the past."

Daniel was relieved to hear that Bella and Alec were just friends, although he didn't exactly hide the true meaning of his question very well. "Sorry for askin'. Its just that I've been let down before." It seems as though all Daniel has done since getting back it appologizing to girls for things he says. "I think I know what you mean. The past is past. But the future..." he put his hand on top of Bella's, "...is only as good as the choices you make."

Bella could tell he was still fighting over that. But she put her drawning aside. She'd make another just for Daniel later. Something without Alec in it. She had just been thinking of a lot of things. Smiling, she flinched at first, then softened once more, grabbing his hand back. "Then my future looks bright."

Daniel felt Bella flinch again, although it didn't feel as bad as the first time. He let hear take hold of his hand and he just sat there and gazed into her eyes. Daniel couldn't believe how prefect she was. He couldn't remember the last time he saw a girl as beautiful as she was. He began to think about things like where would they go on their first date, what would they do, when would they even be able to go on it, how and when would he go about having their first kiss. He thought about doing it there and then, but he remembered that she still flinched just for holding her hand. Imagine how much she would react if he kissed her. He tried to think of something to say to divert these thoughts, but apart of him was quite happy to sit here in silence.

Bella leaned into Daniel a bit. She kind of wished none of the things that happened to her had because maybe things wouldn't be stiff when she flinched. Well, not stiff. Just unsure. Rubbing her thumb along his hand, she looked about the room and his face.
Focusing on her face, Daniel looked serious. Lost in thgouht. It was rare Bella caught someone in this moment. It made her smile and wonder more. "What are you thinking?" She didn't know why she had asked it, but she wanted to know.

Daniel felt Bella lean into him. He put his arm around her and held her close to him. He wasn't about to let her go. At first he was unsure how to answer her. "I was just thinking....a-about us. About our first date, the first time you teach me to dance, there first time we.........kiss." Daniel hesitated for a moment. Part of him didn't want to tell her exactly what he was thinking, but seen as how she was open and honest with him, he felt he should do the same.

Bella played her fingers across the back of his hand. She waited and then he talked. It brought a smile to her face. "Well, we could have our first date here. I'll make something for just the two of us one night." Her own thoughts flooded her. What would it all be like? Crazy like today was?

Pushing his hair back, Bella leaned in. She was being really bold for her. She put her hand cupped around his cheek, close dher eyes and softly kissed him.

Daniel was taken by surprise when Bella kissed him. He had never expected her to do so until much later. Surprise though he was, He closed his eyes and kissed her right back. It was the most amazing feeling he had ever felt. It was as though everything around them had just melted away. It didn't even bother him that his sister was in the next room and that she could probably see them. He put his hand on the back of her head and gently ran his fingers through her hair. He carried on kissing her.
