Dinner For Fourteen

Daniel just let his sister drag him to his seat even though there was no need for it, Mal had already said that him and Bella would sit next to each other. He turned to the girl who introduced herself, "Hi, Alora. I'm Daniel." He was unsure as to why she was here although she did have an air of familiarity about her. "So, er, what br...br...what?" He stopped mid sentence when Vincent made the revelation. He didn't know what to say, "Er...congratulations. Um...what did dad have to say about this?"

Well, so far so good. Everyone's only concern seems to be Simon. "We're currently at the stage of not having told him yet. But, we're glad to hear that your happy for us." It was actually difficult to tell as they were all shocked and confused more than anything else. "Lets put it this way, now I'll truly be one of the family." They all liked it when he was on board, now he'll be on board for good.

River wrapped her arms around Vincent's waist. She liked to be near him.

"They're happy for us confused but happy" said River wanting to kiss Vincent again.

She was still holding onto him unwilling to let go of Vincent's waist. She was glad that he would be staying now she always felt safe around him. That was all that mattered plus it was about the sanest anyone had ever seen here. She was glad about that much.

At the news Alora choked a bit on her rice. She put a hand up to say she was cool, good, not dieing. Wasn't he a little..old for her. Maybe things were different on this boat...that was it. Age isn't suppose to matter when you're in love, atleast that's what she had read. all of her knowledge had come from books, or what the Alliance had told her. "um..Congratulations...I guess." Lora looked confused and went back to her fooding, thinking that keeping quiet would be best.

Jay was seated next to Alora. Easiest to be close to the ones he called his family too. Smiling over at Haven he placed some food on his place. Looking up at his aunt River he grinned. "Way to go aunt River." The girl next to him was new it seemed, and he hadn't even had the chance to introduce himself to her. She was quite good looking though. Ever now and then his eyes would move to her and he smiled, going back to what he was doing before. Which happened to be kicking Haven under the table.

James looked around, everyone sat down and seemed happy, and content. With everyone there, he felt like he was surounded, and trapped in the kitchen. James looked, made sure everyone was ok. He heard Vincents anouncment, but tried to ignor it. "congrats..." was all he could come up with, as he walked out the door.

Mal just sat back. He wished this was all done with. Taking some juice, he drank it down. "Well, Simon is the lease of our worries." He leaned forward, watching everyone eat. "You two should sit. I'm getting started without Jayne and Simon." Setting his silverware down, he cleared his throat. "We got no job. The fuel we have is all we can run on."

Haven glared at Jay. He was being obnoxious. Kicking him back, she stuck out her tongue. But it receaded. No job meant no money. They'd have to pince their pennies. She felt angry. "Where to now? The black?" Haven felt kind of hurt. Mal always got a job.

Jayne walked in. He was drinking out ofa small flask. But the food smelt good to him. Sitting next to Jay, he grabbed some food. "So River, finally got someone I heard eh?" He listened walking in. it would be strange seeing them. And now he was a little agigtated. "We were supposed to get the job. If it wasn't for kidnapper-realeser mental here, we'd have one." Cutting into the chicken, he shoved a handful in his mouth, tasting the only meal to probably come for awhile.

Bella saw that a couple people were already angry. Clearing her throat, she set her food aside. Her heart was racing and she had butterflies. This was slightly out there. After all, she just got on the crew. "I have a job. And it pays." She'd wait for them to respond.

Jay chose to ignore most of the conversation. He was just the pilot after all. Lightly he kicked Haven again. Then he kicked Daniel, mouthing for him to stop making goo goo eyes at his girl. He turned around in his seat and just looked at Bella. "Whats this job?" He wanted to know. He was the one who flied this ship, if he was going to put his family in danger he wanted to know why, and what kind of reasons the girl had for offering them a job.

Vincent held River close to him when she hugged him. He gave her a kiss on her forehead. This was a good moment for them. They had been accepted by the crew. They probably should have left to tell Simon, but right now, he just wanted spend time with his new family. He lead her to a couple of empty seats and pulled her chair out for her. "Lets forget telling your brother for now. Lets just enjoy the moment."

Daniel

Daniel just stared at Jay when he kicked him. Why did he do that? He just about managed to work out what he was mouthing to him. He just alternated between Alora and Jay in surprise. Then he mouthed that he was interested in Bella. New romance was certainly in the air what with Bella and himself, Mal and Inara, Vincent and River, and now Jay and Alora. Daniel was surprise when Bella mentioned a job, "A job? What kind of a job?"

Gene

Gene took his assigned seat next to Haven and didn't waste anytime in going for the food. He looked around and saw virtually everyone partnered up with someone. He looked to Haven and concluded that she didn't have anyone, otherwise she'd be sitting with them, "So, whats a pretty girl like you doing without a bloke?" He looked Bella when she mentioned a job, "How much this job of yours pay?"

Dave was a bit overwhelmed by everyones anouncements, it sounded like Vincent and River's was slightly out of the blue so all he said was "Nice one." and started to put some food on his plate, but when the cook said she had a job for them, his interests where peaked, but it seemed everyone else had asked what he meant to.

Simon

Simon had followed Jay from the Bridge. but took his time, having dropped into the Infirmary to make sure that everything was stowed away, the last thing they needed was some Solar turbulence and for the Infirmary to become the most danferous palce on the ship with scalpels flying around. He walked in to hear people asking Bella about a job. the first thing he said was "I thought we didnt get a job because our Ilustrious captain managed to get himself kidnapped." taking everyone by surprise.

Haven was slightly intrigued. This girl was a character. Shrugging to Gene, she looked at him. "All my blokes ar eplanetside. Mal refuses to hire them." She stuck he rtongue out at him as she kicked Jay again. Then she leaned forward to eat some more. "She's a catch Daniel." Then she continued to eat and listen.

[Captain Malcolm Reynolds]

Bella had Mal's attention. That was for sure. She had a job? Her first night here? He was skeptic, but curious. They needed the money. And if another Saffron was pulled, then he'd make sure all was ready. "How much?" Finishing his food first, he grabbed a plate to make up Zoe's for later. Then he leaned back. Taking his cup in his hands, he sipped it as he motioned with his hands. "You have the floor."

((Oh. My. Gods...could you people slow down!!!! Do you see how much I have to respond to? Gah!!!Also, does it really take 15 people to ask Bella what the job is, I swear you all repeated it.))

When River and Vincent announced their new found relationship, Inara smiled with happiness. "Congratulations you two, now come and eat before Mal eats it all." she said, pointing to their seats.

Of course, topics then turned to a job so Inara just stayed silent and ate her food. There really wasn't a place for her in the jobs they did, so she sat back and let everyone talk if Mal needed her he'd say so.

River held onto Vincent's hand when Simon came into the room. River hadn't been surprised by Simon she knew he was coming. She knew what was coming from him as soon as he found out about it. She actually was a little frightened everyone else accepted it, but Simon wouldn't. River looked at Alora carefully. She knew what Alora was and that was something that wouldn't go over well.

Vincent looked up to see Simon enter the room, and from the look of things he was completely oblivious to what was going on. They had to tell him eventually, plus it would be best if they were the ones to do it as opposed to having him hear it for someone else, or having him walk in on them. He turned to River, "Don't worry. I'm right here with you." He turned towards Simon, "Doctor, there's something you should know. Your sister and I are...together...in love...with each other."
